1. Explain:
the purpose and content of an operational plan
the role of an operational plan in achieving the organisation’s objectives
the purpose and content of a contingency plan.
An operational plan is developed to provide a clear outline of activities associated with
achieving strategic goals as outline in the strategic plan. It represents highly detailed
information specifically to direct people to perform the day to day tasks required in the
running the organisation. Each of the tasks can be related back to specific objectives that
the company has in the strategic plan.
Operational plan goes into detail about :
- what the strategies and tasks that must be undertaken
- who the persons who have responsibility of each of the strategies
- how much the amount of financial resources provided to complete each strategy or task
2. Explain the difference between an operational plan modelled on the organisation as a whole and
one that has been modelled to suit a specific organisational goal or department.
An operational plan can be used at the macro level of the organisation to meet objectives but van
also be used at a more micro level to meet certain goals within departments or new projects. The
differences are that each will be set up to meet certain goals and have their own budgets
allocated to them.

It should be documented according to the organisation’s policy and procedures. Record keeping
and file management is key to maintain productivity in any organisation .
10. Provide a definition of a PCBU and outline their key responsibilities under WHS laws.
A person conducting a business or undertaking ( PCBU ) is a legal term under WHS laws for
individuals, business or organisations that are conducting business
11. Outline the aim and scope of the Fair Work Act 2009.
This is the main legislation that governs the employee / employer relationship in Australia . it provides
a safety net of minimum entitlements, enable flexible working arrangements and fairness at work and
prevents discrimination against employees.
