Above is the topic have chose to discuss about the effects of computer technology
and why drastically reducing human resources, I was inspired to write about this
article from the author by the name of "Ron Edwards is a Lecturer in Economics,
Melbourne College of Advanced Education." From Uopeople JSTOR library the link is
attached on the reference section. I feel its important looking at the current
generation how technology is advancing from 1st ,2nd ,3rd , an so on generation to
discuss about the good things and negative effects of computer technology.
Positive Effects
Job Creation: The rise of computer technology has led to the emergence of entirely
new industries, such as software development, cybersecurity, and data analysis,
creating numerous job opportunities. And Enhanced Productivity through
automation and advanced technology that has increased productivity, allowing
businesses to expand and potentially hire more workers. Which has demanded for
tech-savvy employees , prompted many organizations to invest in training
programs, enabling workers to learn new skills and adapt to technological changes.
It has given remote work, broadening job opportunities for individuals in various
locations.
Employment effect: Cost has been reduced and consumers have their demand
satisfied for the product that has reduced in price for a smaller proportion of their
income than was formerly needed. More income left to spend on other products.
Although the respective employees will not be aware of the source, the industries
which receive the extra spending will have to respond by increasing their
workforces to meet the demand. This effect will occur but to a lesser extent even if
the industry applying the more efficient techniques maintained their high prices and
took the cost reduction in the form of higher profits. The extra income accruing to
the firm's shareholders will be spent in part on additional consumer goods. It is this
effect, called an income effect by economists that always has been the vehicle for
the benefits of technological advance to spread across the community. The

processes of invention and innovation that have long been accepted as the means
to promote living standards are now suddenly considered a threat to living
standards by writers like Reinecke and Jones. Having mentioned the positive Effects
with one of the paragraph from Ron Edwards article. Let's look at the negative
effects
Negative effects
Job Displacement: Many routine and manual jobs are at risk of being automated,
leading to job losses in sectors such as manufacturing, retail, and customer service.
Workers whose skills are outdated may struggle to find new employment, leading to
long-term unemployment for some. Automation can create wage pressure, as
companies may prefer to invest in technology rather than pay higher wages to
human workers, particularly in low-skill jobs. Workers with higher education and
technical skills may benefit disproportionately from advancements in technology,
while those without may face job insecurity and economic instability.
