Detailed Course Outline

During the INT courses you will be creating and keeping a Professional Journal that will give you
an opportunity to demonstrate your achievements. The contents of your Professional Journal will
help you to complete the Week 8 assignment. You will also be creating a Professional Portfolio of
evidence in each INT class that will build into a great resource for you to show potential
employers what you have achieved. The Professional Portfolio will support you in your CLA 1
assignment. You will be using the business course you are enrolled in, or any previously taken, to
add insight to your responses. Finally, the following outline, of each week below, provides
important assignment details for this course, week by week. Students are responsible for all of the
assignments given. Please refer to the Detailed Description of Each Grading Criteria in the
syllabus for specific information about each assignment.

The link to the journal and the portfolio is in the Resources section of this syllabus.

Professional Journal- CLO 1, CLO 2, CLO 3, CLO 4, CLO 5

Whether you want to be able to look back at where you started, set a future goal for yourself and
seek a new path, or just deal with present issues, a Professional Journal helps you do that in a
reflective way. You need not write every day. Your Professional Journal is a tool that helps you to
better understand yourself, to plan your goals, and to follow-up on goals. Personal journaling, as
opposed to your Professional Journal, is meant to be a log of your feelings for any given day. For
your Professional Journal, try to keep these types of emotional responses from being included in
your entries. Journal writing tips are provided in the Internship Course Resources under
Supplementary Material in this GAP course. Here is also a web article with templates to review
as well: Guide to Keeping a Work Journal (with downloadable template) (journalinghabit.com)

About Professional Portfolios CLO 1, CLO 2, CLO 3, CLO 4, CLO 5

Each internship course will conclude with your professional portfolio that you are expected to
continually add to, improve, amend, and edit. Using the articles provided in the Internship Course
Resources, under Supplementary Material in this GAP course, identify areas of improvement
and/or materials to add to your portfolio. The use of a portfolio document may be sent to a
prospective employer or used in your evaluation for a promotion.

If you do not have a professional portfolio, this will be a great place to start. If you have already
started your professional portfolio, then identify any additional items that are needed to complete
the latest version of your portfolio.

Regardless of whether you think you need a portfolio at this time, it is a great tool/record of what
you have achieved in your professional life and it may become an important resource in the
future. If you have already started your professional portfolio in another internship class, then
identify any additional items that are needed to complete the latest version of your portfolio. If
you believe you have completed your portfolio and have no new updates or additions, then you
must review the four (4) articles about portfolios in the Internship Course Resources under
Supplementary Material in this GAP course and identify elements from the articles that you
would add this session.

A market survey is a key tool for any company considering launching a new product or service
into a new marketplace domestically or overseas. It serves to identify potential markets and

■ Who would you be asking these questions of?
● Once each partner has completed the above post, respond to your discussion partner with
addressing the following:
○ Would the market survey template selected be a good fit for the product/service
your peer wishes to market? Explain.
○ Does the market survey provide good information about how to market the
product/service your peer wishes to market? Explain.
● Finally, with your discussion partner, determine the final five questions you would use for
your partner market survey.
