Dear Nalin,
I am pleased to extend you an offer for the position of Graduate Teaching
Assistant, in conjunction with your admission to the Master of Science in Mechanical
Engineering (MSME) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of
Texas at Tyler (UT-Tyler), to begin on Jan. 6, 2025. This offer is for an annual
compensation of up to $24,000, based on availability of funds, for the academic year of
2024-2025, with the possibility of renewal as needed. Compensation may be prorated
based upon the date the student is approved to work by Human Resources. The position
requires 20 hours of work for the department per week.
To maintain this position, the following conditions must be fulfilled and
maintained:
1. You must enroll in Thesis-I (MENG 5395) during, or before, your second semester
(Fall or Spring) at UT-Tyler. Your thesis advisor at this time will be Dr. Tahsin
Khajah. You must agree together on the thesis topic within your first semester at UT-
Tyler.
2. You must maintain a 3.0 GPA and be enrolled full time (spring and fall semesters) in
the MSME program to maintain this position.
3. You must fulfill your main duty, which is to conduct research and assist in teaching,
as well as any other departmental duties, as assigned by the department chair or a
direct supervisor assigned by the chair.
4. The position is contingent upon maintaining good academic standing, satisfactory
performance in assignments, and availability of funding. In addition, violation of the
UT Tyler Honor Code will result in immediate dismissal.
5. This appointment is subject to the policies of the University of Texas System and
those of the University of Texas at Tyler.
6. The offer is contingent upon obtaining or holding the required work authorization to
allow you to work in the United States. The offer is also contingent upon providing
the university with all required employment documentation, including successful
completion of criminal background check and verification of Selective Service
registration (if applicable).

provided below and return this letter to the Department of Mechanical Engineering by
October 7, 2024.
