● Delaying tasks until the last minute, leading to rushed work and increased stress.
● Lack of a clear schedule or plan can result in missed deadlines and unbalanced workloads.
● Taking on too many activities or responsibilities, leading to overwhelm and burnout.
● Frequent interruptions from social media, smartphones, or noisy environments hinder focus.
● Difficulty distinguishing between urgent and important tasks can lead to poor decision-making about
what to tackle first.
● Not having specific, achievable goals makes it hard to stay motivated and organized.
● Misjudging how long tasks will take can result in unrealistic schedules.
● Inefficient study habits can lead to longer study sessions without productive outcomes.
● Poor sleep, nutrition, or exercise can negatively affect energy levels and focus.
● Struggling to juggle schoolwork with social activities, jobs, and family obligations can lead to stress.
● The vast amount of material to study can be overwhelming, making it hard to know where to start
● Insufficient guidance from teachers or mentors can make it difficult to manage tasks effectively.
● Not having a regular schedule can disrupt productivity and create chaos.
Concerns about time management among students stem from several factors:
● - High expectations from parents, teachers, and themselves can create anxiety about
performance and deadlines.
● - Balancing multiple classes, assignments, and exams can feel overwhelming, leading to stress
about managing time effectively.
● - Many students struggle with the shift from structured environments (like high school) to the
greater autonomy of college, which requires self-discipline.
● - Juggling academics with part-time jobs, extracurricular activities, and personal commitments can
create time constraints.
● - Concerns about not meeting deadlines or producing quality work can lead to procrastination
and further time mismanagement.
● - The desire to maintain social connections and participate in events can distract from academic
responsibilities.
● - The vast amount of resources and tasks can make it difficult to prioritize and manage time
effectively.
● - Stress, anxiety, and other mental health issues can hinder focus and motivation, complicating
time management.
● - Many students lack effective time management strategies or skills, leading to feelings of being
overwhelmed.
● - The prevalence of digital devices can lead to frequent distractions, making it hard to stay on
task.
● These concerns can significantly impact students' academic performance, overall well-being, and
personal satisfaction, highlighting the need for effective time management strategies.
3.3 Which issue will you focus on ?
● Delaying tasks until the last minute, leading to rushed work and increased stress.
● Not having specific, achievable goals makes it hard to stay motivated and organized.
● Misjudging how long tasks will take can result in unrealistic schedules
How can we help students find a way to manage their time so that they can achieve academic
success
Time management issues can affect various groups of people, but certain individuals tend to experience challenges
more acutely:
1. Students
Balancing coursework, extracurriculars, and social life can overwhelm many students, especially those in higher
education.
2. Working Professionals
Employees with demanding jobs, tight deadlines, or heavy workloads often struggle to manage their time effectively.
4.2 what have you actually observed about the users and how the problem affects them?
Team member: Hi everyone! Thanks for joining me today. I want to discuss time management and how it
impacts your studies. Let’s start with you, Priya . What challenges do you face?
Priya : Thanks for having me! I often struggle with procrastination. I tell myself I’ll start early, but I end up
leaving everything until the last minute.
Team member: That sounds frustrating. Do you think it affects your work quality?
Priya : Definitely! I feel rushed, and I know my grades could be better if I managed my time well.
Team member: Got it. Varun , how about you? What’s your experience?
Varun : I have a lot of extracurricular activities alongside my classes. Balancing them all is tough, and
sometimes I feel like I’m stretched too thin.
Team member: That’s a common issue. Do you find it hard to prioritize what’s most important?
Varun : Yes, exactly! I often end up spending too much time on things that aren’t urgent, which makes my
coursework suffer.
Team member: Thanks for sharing, Varun . Natasha , what about you?
Natasha : I think my biggest problem is distractions. Between social media and my friends texting me, I
can lose hours without realizing it.
Team member: That’s a challenge many students face. How do you try to manage those distractions?
Natasha : I’ve tried turning off notifications and using apps that block social media, but it’s still a struggle to
stay focused.
Team member: Those are good strategies! Hrithik , what are your thoughts?
Hrithik : For me, it’s about lack of structure. I’ve just started college, and I’m finding it hard to create a
routine that works for me.
Team member: Routines can be key. Have you considered making a schedule?
Hrithik : I’ve thought about it, but I’m not sure how to break down my tasks effectively.
Priya : I try, but I often ignore it. I find it hard to stick to a plan when unexpected things come up.
Team member: That’s a common barrier. Varun , do you have any tips for creating a flexible schedule?
Varun : I think it’s important to build in buffer time for unexpected tasks. I’ve started leaving a little extra
time for assignments, which helps.
Team member: Great advice! Natasha, any final thoughts on how you all can improve your time
management?
Natasha : Maybe we should form a study group to hold each other accountable. It could help keep us on
track.
Hrithik: I love that idea! We can share tips and motivate each other.
Team member: That sounds like a fantastic plan! Thank you all for sharing your insights today. It’s clear
that time management is a common struggle, but with some strategies and support, we can all improve!
