ICT FOR CONTENT DEVELOPMENT

WEBSITE INTERACTIVITY AND USER EXPERIENCE

Websites are essential platforms for communication, especially for companies aiming to engage
consumers. Interactivity and user experience (UX) are crucial for attracting and retaining users.
Interactivity allows users to engage actively—through comments, polls, and button clicks—
enhancing their overall experience. These elements are integral to the Web 2.0 and 3.0 frameworks.
WEB DESIGN PRINCIPLES AND ELEMENTS
To improve website interactivity and UX, adhere to the following web design principles:
1. Simplicity: Ensure easy navigation by streamlining design elements.
-Color: Use up to five complementary colors that align with your brand.
-Typeface: Choose clear, readable typefaces—ideally, no more than three.
-Imagery: Use relevant visuals (images, videos) that support your message.
2. Navigation: Incorporate a straightforward menu to prevent user frustration.
3. F-shaped Pattern Reading: Design layouts to match how users naturally scan content (left to
right, top to bottom).
4. Visual Hierarchy: Prioritize design elements by size and color, emphasizing the most important
content.
5. Content: Ensure your website features compelling, error-free content.
6. Grid-based Layout: Use a grid system for a clean, organized presentation of content.
7. Load Time: Optimize images and multimedia to enhance loading speed and overall performance.

PLANNING AND RESEARCH FOR CREATING A SOCIAL ADVOCACY WEBSITE

Always start with the ends in mind. Generate your own ideas about content and identify various
opportunities based on your target audience. Have a clear plan of actions, responsibilities, work
requirements, timeframe and budget if needed. Set a SMART goal to target.

Specific – (What do you want to do or want to achieve?) Set a real goal that is direct, detailed and
meaningful. Make sure that your goals are focused and can identify a concrete outcome. Your goal
will be at risk or vague without the specifics of the goal, because knowing what you wanted to
achieve is knowing the leverage to success.

Measurable – (When will you know when you reach it? What are the signs of your success?) – Make
sure that you goal is trackable and quantifiable.

Defining your own definition of “success” will aid you to estimate your current achievement level
on reaching your specific goals.

Attainable – (Is it possible for you to reach your goal?) Work towards a goal that is challenging but
possible and doable. Check if you have the tools or resources that will help you to achieve and attain
your goals.

Realistic – (Are your current skills enough to reach your goal?) Knowing yourself is the key to your
success. Be honest with yourself and know your capabilities and the things that you cannot do. Be
realistic toward your goals as well as on your capacity to do.

Time-Bound- (When exactly do you plan to accomplish it?) Give yourself a deadline.

Every goal should have a target date to finish. Having deadlines motivates oneself to do more
efficiently and helps you to be focused in reaching your goals.

Audience Profiling

 Purpose: Identifies and understands the target audience to tailor content effectively.
 Key Components:
1. Demographics: Information about audience age, location, gender, occupation,
income, education, etc.
2. Psychographics: Focus on lifestyle, values, social class, attitudes, and interests.
 Outcome: Understanding demographics and psychographics helps engage and appeal to the
target audience.
