It is believed that the government has the responsibility to solve environmental problems instead of
individuals. I strongly disagree with this view and would argue that not only politicians but also
individuals should be responsible for protecting the environment.
To begin with, there are many big environmental issues that individuals cannot deal with, but they can
support the government. Some serious problems such as global warming, hurricanes, droughts or violent
storms require the efforts and cooperation between government and some organizations. Because it needs
special equipment, modern devices and a large group of scientists to work, the expense for these things is
expensive that only politicians have enough cost to pay. Moreover, it takes long time for scientists to
study and analyze the data in order to know the reason that causes environmental problems, so they can
find the most effective solutions to address issues. Individuals may not have enough time and money to
research and perform this duty, however, they can join hands by obeying the environmental rules to
protect the environment.
Individuals also have the responsibility to protect the earth. They can help in various ways such as
recycling, buying more energy efficient items, planting more trees or saving water. In addition, protecting
the environment needs the cooperation both politicians and individuals. Without this cooperation, the
issues will not be solved efficiently. For example, if farmers continue burn forest for their purpose and
ignore the regulation of government, the problem of climate change or global warming is more serious.
In conclusion, I believe that both politicians and individuals have the obligation to protect our
environment.
