Chapter I

Introduction

- Background of the Study. This is a brief account of the rationale for the choice of the
topic for research. It should describe the circumstances that prompted you to undertake
the research work.

- Project Objectives. The objectives or problem of a research work should evolve from
unexplained phenomenon that needs to be resolved and that should be stated
precisely, accurately, and clearly.

- Significance of the Study. This section justifies the study. It should include a statement
of the contribution of the study in pushing back the existing frontiers of knowledge. It
should also include the potential beneficiaries of the research and the possible uses of
the results.

- Scope and Delimitation of the study. Boundaries of the study need to be clearly defined
and stated specifically. In technical developmental research, the variables to be studied,
raw materials used, and specifications etc., must be included.

Chapter II

Review of Related Literature and Studies

- Related Literature. The review of literature and studies serves several functions. Among
these are: (a). The review establishes the baseline information about the topic of
interest. (b). The review pinpoints the strengths and weaknesses of the studies
conducted on the topic. (c). The review leads the researcher on the correct procedure to
be followed for more accurate results. (d).The review highlights the importance of the
investigation.

- Related Studies. Related studies in contrast to related literature are work based on
empirical data. In reviewing related studies one must take careful note of the problem,
the methodology including the sampling plan, the instrument used, the findings and
conclusions.

- Conceptual Framework. Drawn from the review of related literature and studies;
clarifies the relationships between and among the major variables of the study;
Illustrates the research study further in conceptual paradigm.

- Operational Definition of key Variables and Other Terms. This section of the research
study includes important or key terms that should be substantially and clearly defined
according to how they are used in the study in order to facilitate understanding of the
problem and avoid ambiguous meanings to terms which can be otherwise interpreted in
different ways.

Chapter III

Research Methodology

- Project Design. Project design is parallel to the research design in social science
researches. It explains in totality how the project will work. It must also define the
component parts and what each component does for the system, or project. To make
the design clear, block diagrams, systems designs, etc. will be most useful.
In addition, raw materials to be used must be itemized including the specifications and
details.

- Project Development. Procedures to be followed in the development of the project

must be described in detail. This could be presented by a flowchart to show the phases
or steps in the development of the project. Be sure to make the appropriate shapes of
boxes and figures in the flowchart of activities.

- Testing and Operating Procedures. After detailing how the project will be developed,
plans for validation must be described. Validation is done to determine whether the
project meets the requirements initially set. In this stage of project development ,
testing and retesting are done. Here, problems are met and solved and then project
revisions are made until the project is perfected.

-
- Evaluation. Evaluation of the overall performance of the project must be done. This is
usually the step neglected in the project development but is supposed to be a significant
step to determine the project’s efficiency, which also becomes the basis for project
improvement. The projected end-users of the project are most important actors in this
aspect.
