Steps to use ProxKey Digital Signature In Ubuntu 14.

04 LTS

First of all download the proxkey app either from the website of the company or
from the below mentioned link

https://support.cryptoplanet.in/download/2018/ProxKey_Ubantu.deb

This link will help you to download the same.. The detailed instruction to download
and install the said App are provided to all of us already.

Next step is to install the Digisigner app on your laptop

From the above link download the zip file of the app­it will help you to download
the zip file directly – once downloaded the file will look as in the picture below

Once the zip file is downloaded – extract it on the desktop –


in order to extract the file – double click on the file shown in above image
Once you double click – a page shown in the image below will open
On that page you can find the Extract Option in the middle on the top.
Click on the extract option.

It will ask you where to save the extracted folder­ Digisigner­4.0

Select desktop to extract the folder­­ and click on Extract option in the right corner
at the bottom.
Now you can find Digisigner­4.0 folder on the desktop

Double click on the said folder and open it – after opening you will find the below
page

You can see a file named digisigner.sh

It is highlighted in the above image.


This file is not executable – in order to make it executable you need to make a
change in your system.

On the same page take your mouse arrow to the left side top corner

You will find options like File­ Edit­ etc.

Click on edit option – A dropdown window will open – in that click on last option
i.e. preferences.

Now the following 'File Preferences' window will open


In it click on the behaviour Tab – by default “view executable text files when they
are opened” ­ this option is selected­­
Change it to “Run executable text files when they are opened”

Once that is done your Application is ready to be opened.

Now right click on the digisigner.sh file and select run.

That will open the digisigner app. This app helps to sign the pdf document with
digital signature...
Now plug in your proxKey usb token in the laptop.
Digisigner App will look like this

In the digisigner app

Open the pdf file – In order to open pdf file – Click as shown below

It will open the following window


In the above picture you can see a window where you can open the folder where
your pdf file is stored. Select the pdf file and open it

After that click on “Sign Document”

Now Select the area where you want to place the digital signature
Now this will direct You to Digital Signature dialogue

In the above window, click on the Add existing key store option

The below window will open


In that select the second option i.e.

“Smartcard or USB stick Key Store (PKCS#11)” and click on Add button.

(Note : Prior to this you need to run the proxkey diagnostic tool and then login
in Proxkey token Tool­all this is provided in the proxkey manual as already
circulated.)

After you click on the add button following window will open – In it click on File
button

After that following window will open

In the above window paste or type the following

/usr/lib/WatchData/ProxKey/lib/libwdpkcs_SignatureP11.so

(Note the above path is case sensitive­write it as it is­no changes allowed)


Now click on OK

Now you will be redirected to the following window – You will see that the
text/path you entered above is visible in the Library file area – Now click on Ok

Once you click on Ok

Your digital signature certificate will be added in the Digisigner application and it
will look like this
And you are ready to use it....!!!!!!!

Now just click on sign button and your digital signature will be added.....

This is a one time procedure....

Now the next time you want to sign a document....


just open the digisiner folder......right click on the digisigner.sh file and click on
run....
it will open the digisigner app..
now select the pdf you want to sign...
select the area where you want to sign....it will ask for your token key....enter the
key and click on sign.....thats it...your digital signture will appear on the pdf..
Note : This can be used till the laptop gets updated to the ubuntu 18.04 version as
provided by the Hon'ble High Court..
Once we move to the Updated version – this need not be used....
