Techniques in Adding Dimensions of an Object Using 3D Models 1
Techniques in Adding Dimensions of an Object Using 3D Models 1
INTRODUCTION
3D modeling techniques create 3D images of
different objects in which they are represented in
three dimensions. An artist manipulates points in
virtual space to create a collection of vertices that
form an object. By manipulating vertices, 3D
objects can be generated automatically or created
manually. Engineers and architects rely on these
techniques to plan and design their work. In fact,
the Sydney Opera House was fully modeled
through the help of SketchUp’s 3D Warehouse.

MEASURING TOOLS IN DIGITAL WORLD
Unlike the Real World, digital measuring tools are
also based on the 3D models, but it can be various
based types.
DIGITAL WORLD
These 3D (3 dimensions) are the measuring tools
that are used in a digital world (3D Modeling
Tools). All 3D models will have three
measurements to them: height, width, and depth.
These correspond to the Z, X, and Y axis. Z axis
controls the camera’s position and viewing angle,
Y and X axis refers to the depth and height
REAL WORLD
Ruler, Tape measure, Screw Gauge Micrometer
and ETC are the measuring tools that can be found
in real world and, we sometimes use in daily life.
These tools also measure the width, height, length,
weight and ETC, the same as the Digital World if
we are based on what it measures.
REAL
WORLD
VS
DIGITAL WORLD
REAL WORLD
The real world’s measurements are real-life based
instruments that can be used in daily life.
Engineers, Architects and Construction Workers
mostly need this type of instrument to help them
have a perfect measure and to make blueprints.
The real world tends to have a better measuring
tool so we can use it every day.
DIGITAL WORLD
The digital world has an advanced measuring tool
that is just a shortcut to measuring tools in the real
world. Both the real world and digital world
measures length, width, height depth and more.
Digital world contains advanced tools that are
rarely used in daily life basis. Mostly advanced
buildings need this kind of measuring tool, they
make floorplans etc.

HINGES AND PIVOTS
HINGES
Hinges are jointed and flexible devices that are
attached to any swinging part. Hinges are a
hardware component that connects two things
together, bearing the weight from one to the other
about a fixed axis of rotation allowing it to open
and close easily. They are found on virtually all
doors in a home, mains doors, and commercial
buildings.
PIVOTS
Pivot points control how objects rotate and scale and
represent the exact locations of objects in space. The 3D
manipulators also rely on the object's pivot point. All
transformations of an object are relative to the object’s
pivot point.
