HR: Good afternoon, Uditha. Thank you for making it today. I hope the commute wasn’t too
hectic. How are you feeling?

Uditha: Good afternoon! I’m doing well, thank you. The commute was smooth, and I’m really
excited to be here. I appreciate the opportunity to interview for this position

HR: We’re glad to have you. Why don’t we start by having you introduce yourself? Tell me
about your background, your experience, and what has brought you to this point.

Uditha: Sure! I have a degree in M.B.A from St. Peter’s College of Engineering and
Technology, which laid the foundation for my interest in Accounting, Economics and Finance.
Now, I’m seeking new challenges and believe this role aligns perfectly with my skills and
aspirations.

HR: That’s a strong introduction! So, what specifically attracted you to this role at Wipro
Limited?

Uditha: Thank you! What stood out to me was how your company is known for providing IT
services, consulting, and business process outsourcing (BPO) solutions globally. The role itself
also intrigued me because it involves tasks like managing financial records, assisting with
audits, and handling invoices, which align with my passion for accounting and attention to
detail. I believe I can bring value with my background in Accounting and I’m excited about the
possibility of growing with your organization.

HR: You’ve certainly done your homework. Can you share what your biggest strengths are and
how they’ve helped you succeed in your career so far?

Uditha: One of my core strengths is problem-solving. I enjoy tackling challenges and finding
efficient solutions. For example, during my academic projects, I was tasked with preparing
detailed financial reports within tight deadlines. By organizing tasks effectively and using
spreadsheets to streamline data entry, I was able to complete the reports accurately and on time.
I also consider communication to be one of my strengths, as it has helped me collaborate
smoothly with peers during group assignments and internships.

HR: That’s impressive. On the flip side, can you tell me about an area where you think you
could improve?

Uditha: Of course. One area I’ve been actively working on is improving my proficiency in
advanced Excel functions, such as pivot tables and VLOOKUP, to analyze financial data more
efficiently. During my academic projects, I often took on multiple tasks myself because I enjoy
being hands-on. However, I’ve realized that effective teamwork and task distribution are
essential for productivity. To improve in this area, I’ve been practicing collaborative skills
through group assignments and familiarizing myself with tools like Google Sheets for better
task management.
HR: That’s great self-awareness! Could you describe a time when you faced a major challenge
at your project and how you overcame it?

Uditha: Sure. During my final year project, I faced a major challenge while preparing a mock
financial statement. We encountered discrepancies in the data, which made balancing the
accounts difficult. To resolve the issue, I carefully reviewed each entry, identified the errors,
and cross-checked the figures with supporting documents. I also collaborated with my team to
ensure accuracy. Through persistence and teamwork, we successfully completed the project on
time, which reinforced my problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

HR: It’s always good to hear real-world examples of how candidates handle pressure. What are
some of the key motivators that drive you at work?

Uditha: I’m motivated by challenges and opportunities to learn. When I see that my work has
a tangible impact, whether it’s solving a problem, delivering a successful project, or helping
my team, it really drives me. I also enjoy working in environments where I can collaborate
with others and grow both professionally and personally.
HR: That’s a great mindset. So, where do you see yourself five years from now? What are your
career goals?
Uditha: In the next five years, I’d like to deepen my expertise in [mention relevant field] and
take on more responsibilities, possibly in a leadership role. I want to continue learning, stay
updated with industry trends, and contribute meaningfully to the growth of the organization
I’m part of. Ideally, I’d love to grow within Wipro Limited if given the opportunity.

HR: That’s a solid plan. Now, how do you typically handle feedback especially when it’s
constructive or critical?

Uditha: I view feedback as an essential tool for growth. I always appreciate when someone
provides constructive criticism because it helps me see things from a different perspective. For
example, I once received feedback about my attention to detail in data entry during a group
project. I reflected on it, took a short online course on data accuracy and best practices, and
applied what I learned in subsequent tasks. The next time I worked on a similar project, my
work was much more precise and accurate. So, I try to see feedback as a way to improve rather
than as a setback.

HR: That’s the right attitude to have. Now, let’s talk about teamwork. Can you share an example
of a time when you had to work closely with a difficult colleague or team member?

Uditha: Absolutely. In one of my internships, I worked on a project with a colleague who had
a very different communication style from mine. Initially, it led to some misunderstandings.
Instead of letting it affect the project, I scheduled a one-on-one meeting to align our
expectations and understand their working style better. We ended up finding common ground,
and the project was completed successfully. This experience taught me the importance of
empathy and open communication.
HR: That’s a great example of effective conflict resolution. Could you tell me about a project
or task that you are particularly proud of?

Uditha: Sure! One project that stands out is my final year assignment on preparing a complete
set of financial statements for a simulated business. I was responsible for managing the
bookkeeping and ensuring the accuracy of entries, which was challenging due to the volume
of data and strict deadlines. Through careful planning, attention to detail, and collaboration
with my teammates, we not only completed the project on time but also received top marks for
accuracy and presentation. It was incredibly rewarding to receive positive feedback from our
professor, which reinforced my confidence in pursuing a career in accounting.

HR: That sounds like a great accomplishment! What tools or technologies are you most
comfortable working with, and are you open to learning new ones?

Uditha: I’m proficient in using tools like Excel for data entry, financial calculations, and basic
reporting. I have also worked with accounting software like Tally during my coursework. That
said, I enjoy learning new technologies—recently, I completed an online course on Microsoft
Excel’s advanced features, such as pivot tables and data analysis. I believe staying updated
with relevant tools and technologies is essential for continuous growth, and I’m eager to apply
what I’ve learned in a real-world accounting environment.

HR: Absolutely. Learning never stops! How do you prioritize tasks when you’re managing
multiple deadlines?

Uditha: When juggling multiple deadlines, I usually start by assessing the urgency and
importance of each task. I use tools like Trello or Asana to organize my workload and set
reminders. I also try to communicate proactively with stakeholders if any deadlines seem at
risk. Breaking larger tasks into smaller milestones helps me stay on track without feeling
overwhelmed.

HR: That’s a very structured approach. Do you have any questions for me about the role or the
company?

Uditha: Yes, thank you for asking. I’d love to know more about the team I’d be working with.
Could you also shed some light on what success looks like for this role in the first six months?

HR: Great questions! You’d be working with a small team of five, reporting to the Accounting
Manager. As for success, we expect the new hire to accurately manage financial records, assist
with monthly reconciliations, and support the preparation of financial statements. Regular
feedback sessions will help keep you aligned with the expectations. Do you have any other
