 APA SAMPLE REFERENCES LIST

The References list begins on a new page of

the document. Page numbering begins on the
title page and continues consecutively until
the end of the document. Use the same font
size and style as the rest of the document.

Type the word References at the top centre

of the page. It is bolded but NOT underlined
or italicized.

Each citation is arranged alphabetically by

author’s last name or by title. The
References list is evenly double spaced.

Each citation should begin at the left margin.

All subsequent lines should be indented 5
spaces. This entire format of the citation is
called a hanging indent.

NOTE: If a title leads a citation, and begins with

“A”, “An” or “The”, you ignore those words and
alphabetize that source by the next word in the
title. If a TITLE BEGINS WITH A NUMBER,
alphabetize by the spelling of the number.

APA SAMPLE TITLE PAGE

PAGE NUMBER and TITLE OF ASSIGNMENT:

-use the Header feature to insert a page number in the upper

right corner.

-the title page is ALWAYS page 1.

-The Full Assignment Title of the paper should appear in the

top half of the page, 4 spaces (enter four times) below the
page number/header area and be bolded.

FONT STYLE AND SIZE:

-for APA style, use Times New Roman - 12pt. font or

Calibri or Arial - 11pt. font.

-Leave ONE full blank double space (enter twice) between the
Full Assignment Title (in bold) and the rest of the title page
information.
LAYOUT and SPACING:

-centre and evenly double space this required information in the

middle of the page.
PUNCTUATION:

-pay close attention to the punctuation between the information.
