The Dolby CP950 introduces the concept of pre-configured rooms if you want to set up the Dolby CP950
without using Dolby Atmos Designer (DAD). This installation procedure is best for users who have installed
the Dolby CP750 but not the Dolby CP850. Note that using pre-configured rooms does not allow you to use
internal crossovers or mix analog and digital outputs. From the Web user interface (UI), navigate to the
auditorium tab, and then select configure room. The drop-down menu allows you to select the room
configuration (5.1 or 7.1) and the Dolby CP950 output (analog or digital). The correct selection is essential for
good operation. The unused output (analog or digital) is disabled, and the signal is optimized for the best
headroom on the active output. For more information on configuring rooms, see the Dolby Cinema Processor
CP950 Manual.
Note that the transmission of jumbo frames is disabled by default. The Dolby CP950 can receive jumbo
frames but will not send them. This helps prevent issues with older networking hardware that does not
support this type of packet.
For Dolby DSS200 and DSS220 servers, Dolby CP950 automation commands have been added in system
4.9.4.5. After upgrading, you can run the config script to select the Dolby CP950 as your sound processor.
The Dolby CP950 introduces the concept of active monitoring of the AES3 audio pairs on the 8 x AES input.
The CP950 displays an alert when one or more AES3 pairs is missing, but is required for the current macro
(5.1 or 7.1 Dolby Surround). If you use Dolby Fidelio or other accessibility systems that remove channels 7
and 8, edit the 5.1 or 7.1 Dolby Surround macros. Change the preset from Dolby to custom, and then change
channels 7 and 8 to not used.
When used with a Dolby Multichannel Amplifier, clock synchronization is improved for the Dolby CP850 and
Dolby IMS3000. You do not need to calculate and input Additional Delay into the Dolby Multichannel
Amplifier Web UI. The minimum version of the Dolby Multichannel Amplifier when used with the Dolby
CP950 must be 3.0.1.2.
This table lists the bug IDs and provides descriptions of the fixes and/or changes made.
STLHD-1146 Simplified the Web UI to place audio delay settings for the
surround speaker arrays on the auditorium > configure
room tab. This was previously on another tab.
STLHD-1311, STLHD-1794, STLHD-1795, STLHD-1797 Improved performance of the booth monitor speaker.
STLHD-1793 Fixed a condition where the main section of the Front Panel
User Interface (FPUI) is blank. When this problem occurred,
a user would see information at the top and right side only.
STLHD-1809 Made a change in the handling of SNMP that was preventing
“cp950AudioDelay” from reporting the current active
macro’s global audio delay if the macro id/index was higher
than 12.
STLHD-1815 In response to complaints regarding the noise generated by
CP950 fans, this version reduces the default fan speed by
30%. The fan speed increases as the CP950 temperatures
increase to maintain operation.
Issue
An issue exists where the Dolby CP950 log file exports do not have correct file extensions when
downloaded with the Firefox browser [STLHD-612].
Issue
The Web Services command for obtaining log files is not functioning due to an implementation issue. This
should be fixed in the next software release [STLHD-1642].
Issue
When using a 1x AES input to receive coded audio (Dolby EE, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus) and using
Dolby CP950 surround processing (upmix), there may be brief audio dropouts during playback [STLHD-
1705].
Workaround: Remove surround processing (upmix) from the macro or increase the global audio delay to
110 msec.
Issue
The Dolby CP950 cannot play DTS bitstreams. Sending a DTS bitstream to the Dolby CP950 over HDMI may
result in loud digital noise in the auditorium [STLHD-1718].
Workaround: Always use PCM or Dolby audio codecs when using the Dolby CP950. Using the 1x AES3
input, add 5 seconds of a black clip to cover any audio drops during the switch.
Issue
Changing between the 1x AES input and any other input may take 4.5 seconds to complete
[STLHD-1737].
Workaround: Add a 5 second black clip to shows that switch to or from the 1x AES input.
Issue
If you are reconfiguring the Visually Impaired-Narration (VI‑N) RCA output for something other than VIN
(a specific speaker, or LCR mix), there is an extra delay added (double the delay on the HI port). This
configuration is rarely used but could cause synchronization problems if both the HI and VIN outputs are
heard simultaneously by a guest [STLHD-1738].
Issue
By default, the Dolby CP950 uses AES67 as the protocol for the Dolby Atmos Connect digital outputs. If
you are restoring a new Dolby CP950 from a backup file taken from a unit that used Blu-Link, the system
does not switch to Blu-Link [STLHD-1788].
Workaround: After restoring settings, navigate to the preferences tab and switch the system to Blu-
Link. A reboot may be required to complete the transition.
Issue
An issue exists where the SNMP command “cp950ActiveMacroUIIndex” does not report the same value as
seen in the "Macro Order" field in the Web UI. This should be fixed in a future version and does not require
a change to the SNMP MIB [STLHD-1830].
Issue
When manually equalizing an auditorium, an issue exists with Grossman EQ where the value of the
frequency you change is not the frequency that the system adjusts. Currently, we do not recommend
using Grossman EQ. Graphic EQ operations do not cause this issue [STLHD-1851].
Workaround: None
When using consumer audio formats, a user may experience full-scale (very loud) noise when switching
from Dolby Digital or Dolby Digital Plus to TrueHD [STLHD-1914].
Workaround: When making a switch under these conditions, mute the CP950 to prevent speaker damage.
Issue
When playing back Dolby E content, the CP950 displays an incorrect Bitstream mode. All formats
display as 7.1 (2-channel, 4-channel, etc.). This is a display issue only. The correct number of channels
in the stream play in the room [STLHD-1946].
Workaround: None. This issue should be fixed in a future release.
STLHD-1465 Fixed an issue where the factory reset via USB did not
reset the auditorium settings.
STLHD-1565 Fixed an issue where the default global audio delay for
the 16-channel input was 80 msec. After a factory reset,
it is now the lowest value, which is 20 msec.
STLHD-1520 Basic SNMP support has been added for the Dolby
CP950. A more exhaustive SNMP MIB is planned for a
future release.
