A DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN

SCIENCE GRADE 2

I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
A. Understand the different functions of the senses in our body;
B. Appreciate the functions of the 5 senses in our body; and
C. Engage in activities to show the use of each senses.

II. CONTENT
Topic: Exploring our senses

Materials: Cartolina, Pictures, Pentelpen
Science Concept:
Eyes is our sense of sight.
Nose is our sense of smelling.
Ear is our sense of hearing.
Tongue is our sense of taste.
Hands is our sense of touch.
Science Process: Observing. Describing. Identifying and Classifying.
Value: Thank God for the special parts of our body to enjoy things around.

III. PROCEDURE

1. Greetings
Good Morning Class! Good Morning, Teacher!

How are you today? We are fine Ma’am!

2. Prayer
“Lets bow our heads and Pray” (The students will bow their heads and follow)
Lord Jesus, You are my wonderful example
and from You comes wisdom, knowledge and
understanding. Give me humility of heart and
a teachable spirit, for I confess that in me there
is no good thing. But I know Lord, that by
Your divine power, You have given us
everything we need to live a godly life,
through our knowledge of -
Jesus who called us by his own glory and goodness.
Praise your Holy name, Amen.

3. CHECKING OF ATTENDANCE
“Now, let us check the attendance, say
present if your name is being called.”

6. REVIEWING OF PAST LESSON


Let’s have a quick review of our past lesson.

time? It was about? Yes ma’am! It’s about parts of the body

7. UNLOCKING OF DIFFICULTIES
What do you think is the meaning of the
following words?

DEAF Deaf is lacking the power of hearing or having


impaired hearing.
BLIND Blind is unable to see because of injury, disease, or a
congenital condition.
DARKNESS Darkness is the partial or total absence of light.

SILENCE Silence is the complete absence of sound.

FAMOUS Famous is known about by many people.

TRACED Traced is to find or discover by investigation.

AUTHOR An author is the creator or originator of any written


work such as a book or play, and is also considered a
writer.

8. MOTIVATION
(Teacher will show a picture)

Do you know who is in the picture?

Okay class, listen and I will tell a story of
Helen Keller.
Helen Keller (1880-1968) lived in a world of
darkness and silence. She was blind and deaf.
She could neither saw nor hear. Yet she became
one of America's most famous author and
lecturers.

She had a very good teacher she is Mrs. Anne


Sulivan. Mrs. Anna made Helen feel objects
with one hand. The she traced the word for
each object onto the palm of Helen's hand.

Comprehensions Question:
What Helen Couldn’t do? She’s blind and deaf.

Correct! Mrs. Helen Keller is blind and deaf,


but it doesn’t stop her to pursue her goals in
life right?

Because she became the America’s most


famous author.

Who was her Teacher? Teacher Anne Sulivan

Alright! Mrs. Anne Sulivan is her teacher who


helps Helen to learn and write.

How did her teacher make her learn to read She let Helen feel objects with one hand. Then she

Keller.

Very good! Helen Keller really did her best to


learn even though she has an illness, by the
help of her teacher.

B. DEVELOPMENTAL ACTIVITIES

A. PRESENTATION
Okay class, based on our “Guessing game” and
on the story I’ve read about “Helen Keller”
what do you think we are going to learn today? We will learn about the senses in our body teacher.

Our topic today is about the “5 senses on our


body”.
B. ABSTRACTION

The Five Senses

What are our 5 senses?

We have:

Sight (eyes) - We see with our eyes.


Hearing (ears) - We hear with our ears.
Taste (tongue) - We taste with our tongue.
Smell (nose) - We smell with our nose.
Touch (hands) - We feel with our hands.
How do we use them?

We see beautiful things, hear lovely music,


taste yummy food, smell sweet flowers, and
feel soft textures.

C. GENERALISATION
Again class what is the 5 senses? The 5 senses are Sighting, hearing, tasting, smelling,
and touching.
Why are they important?

Our five senses help us learn and enjoy the


world. They work together to keep us safe and
happy!

D. ACTIVITY
Instruction: Read each sentence and determine
which sense organ is responsible for the
experience.
