Introduction:
Climate change is one of the most pressing issues facing our world today. It refers
to significant and lasting changes in global weather patterns over time, primarily
driven by human activities. Understanding its causes, effects, and mitigation
strategies is crucial to safeguard our planet.

Causes of Climate Change:


The primary driver of climate change is the increase in greenhouse gases (GHGs)
like carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), and nitrous oxide (N2O) in the
atmosphere. These gases trap heat, causing the Earth's temperature to rise, a
phenomenon known as global warming. Key contributors include industrial activities,
deforestation, agriculture, and transportation.

Impact on the Planet:


Climate change affects ecosystems, sea levels, and weather patterns. Polar ice caps
are melting, leading to rising sea levels that threaten coastal communities.
Extreme weather events, such as hurricanes and droughts, are becoming more frequent
and severe. Biodiversity loss is another critical issue as species struggle to
adapt to changing environments.

Mitigation and Adaptation:


Efforts to combat climate change include reducing carbon emissions, transitioning
to renewable energy, and promoting reforestation. International agreements like the
Paris Accord aim to limit global warming to 1.5°C. Adaptation strategies, such as
building resilient infrastructure and adopting sustainable agricultural practices,
are equally important.
