Simplification List Item Description

With SAP S/4HANA, on-premise edition 1511, the Easy DMS Functionality within SAP Product Lifecycle Management (SAP PLM) will no
longer be available. As an alternative, customers using Easy DMS may consider to switch to SAP Document Center for SAP DMS.
However this product is not a replacement for Easy DMS in terms of features and needs evaluation by customers if it fits specific
business processes.

• Scenario optimized user interfaces and native clients.. Mobile Client, Desktop Client and FIORI Web application

Technical Impact
• Easy DMS is only a light version of the SAP DMS functionalities in the R/3 system which is a kind of Add-On to the Microsoft explorer
and uses a RFC connection to the backend for processing documents with restricted capabilities. Therefore, there are no XPRA
routines required for data conversion when customers switch from Easy DMS to SAP Document Center.
• Obsolete Transaction Codes (not available in SAP S/4HANA): EASYDMS_CUS. Easy DMS specific transactions needs to be disabled.
• Easy DMS application should indicate an error when a user tries to access SAP S/4HANA system through Easy DMS client application.
• Installation of SAP HANA Cloud Connector to manage connection between Document Center and ERP or S4HANA On Premise .

Required and Recommended Actions

Switch to SAP Document Center for SAP DMS.
