"Some trees can live for thousands of years! For example, the oldest known tree is a bristlecone pine in California that is over 4,800 years old." 5. Fact 5: Trees help prevent soil erosion. "Trees protect the soil from washing away during rainstorms by holding the soil in place with their roots. This prevents landslides and floods." 6. Fact 6: Trees provide us with food. "Trees give us many fruits like apples, oranges, dates, and coconuts. They also provide nuts, seeds, and spices like cinnamon and cloves." 7. Fact 7: Trees are essential for medicine. "Many medicines come from trees! For example, aspirin is made from the bark of the willow tree. Trees help keep us healthy!" 8. Fact 8: Trees absorb carbon dioxide. "Trees are important in fighting climate change because they absorb carbon dioxide from the air. Trees are Earth's Helpers: Trees help clean the air we breathe by taking in carbon dioxide and giving us oxygen!
Homes for Animals: Many animals, like birds,
squirrels, and insects, live in trees and depend on them for shelter and food.
Trees Give Us Fruit: Apples, oranges, bananas,
and many other fruits come from trees!
Tall and Strong: Some trees, like the redwood
trees, can grow as tall as a building with 35 floors! Tree Rings Tell a Story: When you look at a tree’s trunk, the rings inside tell you how old the tree is. One ring usually means one year of life!
Different Shapes and Sizes: Trees come in all
sorts of shapes and sizes. Some are short, while others are tall, and their leaves can be big or small!
Trees Keep Us Cool: On hot days, trees provide
shade to help us stay cool.
Leaves Change Color: In some places, trees
have leaves that turn beautiful colors like red, orange, and yellow in the fall. Wood for Many Things: Trees give us wood, which is used to make furniture, houses, and even pencils!
Tree Seeds Fly!: Some tree seeds have wings,
like the seeds of a maple tree, and can fly or spin like helicopters when they fall.
Old Friends: Some trees are really, really old.
There are trees on Earth that have been alive for thousands of years!
Every Tree is Different: Just like people, no two
trees are exactly alike. They all have their own special shapes and patterns!
