Instruct:
 The students may be asked to take turns to read aloud portions of the text while the rest of the class
follows silently in their books. Alternately, the teacher may read the story aloud while the students
follow in their books. The audio and animation of the text can also be played. Once this reading
aloud is completed, the students should be asked to read the story silently on their own.
 Teacher will show the related video.
 After showing video, content will be taught.

Aim / Objective

 To learn to write a formal letter

Resources: panel, book & e-content


Teacher's Activity:
 Discuss how writers of science fiction have imagined many inventions which have now become a
reality through the advancement in technology.
 Ask students if they can name any such inventions.
 Let them do the given exercise by working in pairs.
 They may be allowed to look for information on the Internet or in the library.
 Discuss the answers in the class.
 Then remind students of the format of the formal letter.
 Discuss the points that may be included in the letter.
 Put up these points on the blackboard.
 Divide the class into groups of five. Each group will work together to write the letter.

Students’ Activity (Self and peer assessment):


 After the students have finished writing, ask them to assess themselves according to the parameters
given in the table.
 Explain the given parameters through examples.
 Once self-assessment is done, the students should exchange their books and the article with students
from other groups for peer-assessment.
 Remind them to cover the self-assessment portion with a sheet of paper.
 Once the peer-assessment is done, let the students take a moment to understand the ratings and
discuss with the class.

 Guide the students through the given exercise.


 Then divide the class into pairs and let them choose the inventions they would like to talk about.
 They may be allowed to research for information in the library or on the Internet.
 Each pair should note down their argument in points.
 Then each pair will present their work to the class.
 The teacher may correct as required.

Students’ Activity:
 Students will discuss about the topic suggested in the book as instructed by the teacher.

 For Q. 2, let the students keep their books shut.
 Then play the audio.
 Instruct the students to be attentive and listen carefully. Ask them to note the details.
 Then play the audio again, while the students number the statements in order and fill in the blanks.
 Discuss the answers with the class.

Aim / Objective

• To develop the social and inter-personal life skills of effective communication


Resources- Panel, book, and e content book
Teacher’s Activity:

 Guide the students to understand the pie chart given on the page. Explain that communication does
not only involve the words we say, but there are also a lot of non-verbal aspects to it. Encourage
discussion on how a non-verbal aspect of communication can change the meaning of what is being
said. For example, you can choose one sentence and say it with different gestures/ tones/facial
expressions. Then, ask the students how the meaning conveyed changes in each case.
 Let the students work in groups of three for question 1. Each group can answer one part of the
question.
 For question 2, the class can answer as a whole. Check responses and correct if required.
 For the third question, let the students work in pairs and categorize each gesture as positive or
negative. Then, have a class discussion on what each gesture conveys. Ask students to enact the
gestures for a better understanding.
Students’ Activity:
 Students will give all the answers according to the given instructions.
