Space Station Project
Space Station Project
It is the year 2032, your employer has assigned you with a new task of creating the
framework design for a new space station resort. Using your knowledge of chemistry,
ecology, electricity, and space, you will be in charge of designing and planning an epic
space resort.
However, before you begin, BRENDZCO UNIVERSAL, the parent company needs you
to complete an aptitude test to ensure you are the right person for the job. Considering
you will be paid enough money to allow you to retire in the lap of luxury, it is well worth
your time.
Carefully read the instructions and complete each part in stages. Compartmentalizing
your design process will ensure you do not get overwhelmed.
You will complete the information on the following pages. This is just the
overview
A. Space
- use your knowledge of the solar system, plantes, and the sun to identify
an appropriate place to locate your space station
D. Electricity
- Use your knowledge of static charges and electric charges to keep the
guests safe and the station at full power
A. Our Current state and thoughts of space exploration
Think about the current Canadian/world space programs and answer the
following questions about what is currently happening in the world
2. What are the benefits of a space program? What are the negatives of a
space program? [2]
3. There are many groups around the world trying to figure out if having a
human colony on another planet is a good idea. How do you feel about that?

Step 1: Once you have completed the tasks above, complete the APTITUDE
TEST located in google classroom. This multiple choice test will allow
Brendzco to see how much you will be paid.
Step 2: Begin Planning your station. These are the big ideas:
- Make a recommendation on an appropriate planet/moon to live that has
the best chance of sustaining human life.
-Create an ecosystem of living organisms that will help sustain human life.
Step 3: The specifics. Answer each question with attention to detail and clarity.
Begin with the design of your space station. Research the size of the current
space station and look at some fictional ones
2. Why would it be a good choice? (Explain in terms of why people would want to
go there and what resources are available to mine/obtain.)
3. Copy and paste some images of the area you would like to have your space
station.
1. What species of plants and animals would you NOT bring to your space station?
Give at least 2 plants and 2 animals. Justify why you would not bring these.
2. What would be the 10 producers brought to the colony? Explain the reasoning
why these producers would be used.
3. What would be the five animals (this includes fish, insects, birds) brought to
the colony? Explain the reasoning why these animals would be brought.
6. The air in the station should be similar to that of Earth. What are the main gases
that make up air? Are they elements or compounds?
9. Describe how water could be used/reused in the station. Consider the water
Cycle.
6. How could static charges occur on your station? What could be done to
prevent this or deal with the charges.
A final thought
How could you get the government involved in this? Either financially politically
by creating/altering laws for the production of your station. Think about what other
purposes the space station could be used for in addition to being a resort.
