On 27 April 2024 vessel enroute to Baltic area for order.Vessel started tank inerting for all tanks in
preparation for loading on Baltic area.Vessel already completed about 65% of tank to be inerted,
Suddenly Aux boiler occurred.
Aux boiler no.2 was on service for ineting, It was already two days of inerting suddenly we
experienced unusual performance of Forge draft (FD) fan boiler. We immediately stop the boiler and
investigate the problem. We noticed that the Positioner(SIPART PS2) of FD fan actuator was not
responding correctly. When we restart we can no longer start the boiler we have alarm of flame failure,
The sequence of purging time/percentage cannot reach to required value. It only reach to 22% opening.
The nornal value should be up to 70% opening for purging.
We try to interchange Positioner from Aux. Boiler no.1 to Aux boiler no.2. When we restart after
installing the positioner from Aux boiler no.1 we noticed that the sequence of purging directly opened
to 90% without closing until alarm shut down occured.
We reinstalled back the original Positioner from Aux boiler no.2 and restart the boiler,However the
same problem occurred.
We shifted operation into Emergency Operation mode on Aux boiler no.2, However upon switching on
the FD fan manually the fan cannot be started. So we cannot proceed with the Emergency Operation.
We proceed to Aux boiler no.1 to Start on Emergency Operation. The same problem occurred we
cannot start the FD fan blower manually.
Previously after leaving shipyard we manage to fire Aux boiler no.1 into Emergency Operation mode.
The FD fan blower can start in manual operation.
The problem for boilers was the Positioner (SIPART PS2) on FD fan actuator was not responding
correctly. We try to search for new spare, No spare available onboard.
