a. Checking of Attendance

May I ask our class monitor to report to us Absentees of the day ( October 9, 2024 ) are the
our absentees today? following sir.
-name of absentee 1
- name of absentee 2
- name of absentee 3
Thank you, class monitor. Please remind
those individuals to bring their excuse letters
when they return to school so that they can
make up any missed quizzes or assignments.

b. Prayer

Good morning, class! May I request (Students stand up and pray)

everyone to stand up and let’s start our day
with a prayer. For those who are not
catholic, you can pray your own personal
prayer.

In the name of the father… Amen

(After the prayer)

Before you take your seats, please pick up

pieces of papers and plastics and rearrange
your chairs. Thank you.

c. Recalling Classroom Rules and

Regulations.

Before we proceed to our class discussion,

will you please restate our classroom rules?

(Learners participate restating the classroom

rules.)
d. review.
- Cartesian plane, sir.
Previously, we discussed about rectangular
coordinate system.

VII. Lesson Proper:

Teachers Activity Students Activity

a. Motivation.

I know some of you are familiar with

different algebraic expressions, equations
and inequalities, so we will have a short
activity.

To make it faster, this column will be the

group 1, and this column will be the group 2,
and the column will be the group 3.

MATCH ME!
Mechanics of the game:
The class will be divided into 4 groups. Each
group will be given 3 flashcards containing
different algebraic expressions, equations,
and inequalities. The student will paste it on
the board below the terms that corresponds to
it. Each card has its number according to the
group for easy identification.
The first team to finish with highest number
of correct answers will be the winner.
:
(Stimulus-response - Ivan Pavlov)
Before I forgot, the winner will have a
reward after our class period. Yes Sir!
Was it clear for you all, class?

( after the activity )

-Every column has a different

Is there any difference? -Yes Sir. The variables and

equations consist of two letters?

b. Presentation of the Topic.

-Based on our observations, the last column

are linear equations that have two variables
x and y. from the word itself we called these
as Linear Equation In two Variables.

c. Discussion.
A linear equation in two variable is an
equation that can be written in the form:
ax+by=c, where a, b and c are real numbers
such that a and b should not be equal to
zero.
Basically, the standard form of a linear
equation in two variables is written in the
order: ax+by=c or in the form y = mx + b

Naturally, linear equation in two variables

consist of 0 solutions, exactly one solution
and infinitely many solutions.

 We can determine if the given linear

equation has no solution if the
statement or equation with given
values of x and y are not equal to c.
 has only one solution if x = b.
 has the same slope and y-intercept.

There are so many ways how determine the

solutions but for now I’ll be giving you 1
example of those.

Example:
In order to find the solution of Linear
equation in 2 variables, two equations should
be known to us to have a pair of values which
can be used.
Consider for Example: you can use table of
values to find some solution set,
2x + y = 20

Or you can proceed substituting 1 variable

the 0 value.

Example.
5x + 3y = 30
The above equation has two variables namely
x and y.
Graphically this equation can be represented
by substituting any of the variables to zero.

For example, we solve for the value of x

5x + 3(0) = 30 ⇒ x = 6
when y=0,

5 (0) + 3y = 30 ⇒ y = 10
and the value of y when x = 0,
What is interchangeable sir?

Note: the variables x and y are

interchangeable.

Interchangeable means you can swap or

replace each of the variables. None sir.

Any questions or clarifications? Yes sir.

was it clear for everybody?

d. Post-discussion.

Since we are through with our discussion

about solving linear inequalities lets have
immediate summary of our lesson for today.

Find your pair for our next activity named

“lesson takeaways about linear inequalities.”

e. Application.

Now let’s try to apply learning!

In a 1 –half size of intermediate pad paper
try to solve for the values of x and y. Use 0 as
a substitution to any of the variables to solve
for the value of the other variable.
Let’s Try
1. x+y=5
2. 2x + y = 2
3. 3x + 4y + 1 = 13
4. 4x + 5y = 20 Can we use different methods in
5. 5x – 16 = 4y + 4 solving these equations sir?

Sure, you can use some strategies as long as Thank you sir.
you come up the correct answer and are
justifiable.

Please raise your hand if you want to answer

it on the board.

(Some students raising their hands)

-I think you find it difficult to come up with

the answers from numbers 3 to 5. (Learner’s answers may vary
depending on the

forms of linear equation in two variables. use.)

Step 1. Change the given linear equation in

the form ax + by = c

Ex. No.3
3x + 4y + 1 = 13 ( use addition property of
equality )
3x + 4y + 1 – 1 = 13 - 1
3x + 4y = 12

Step 2. Let one variable ( x or y ) equals to 0

Let y = 0
3x + 4(0) = 12
3x = 12 ; divide both side by the coefficient
of x
3x/3 = 12/3
x=4
Let x = 0
3(0) + 4y = 12
4y = 12 ; divide both side by the coefficient
of y
4y/4 = 12/4
y=3
Was it clear for everybody?
Yes sir.

f. Generalization.

So class, as a short generalization of our

topic for today, how can you identify linear
