Dear Parents,

I am writing to inform you of the exciting news that Rokeby School will be taking part in the
National Shakespeare School Festival 2022. The festival gives the boys a fantastic opportunity
to perform an abridged version of a Shakespeare play in a professional theatre.
This year we will be presenting ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ and we are currently awaiting
confirmation of our request of an autumn performance date.

I will be holding first round auditions for Year 6 boys only on Tuesday 14th & 21st June 4:15
– 5:30 pm in PAH. There is a sign-up sheet for the boys on the Drama notice board.

We have entered the festival for the last eight years, and the boys involved have gained a huge
amount from taking part. We are looking for actors and musicians as this project is a
collaboration between Music and Drama.

There are a limited number of parts and boys will have to audition to be part of the cast.

If successful in gaining a part in the cast your son will be required to attend an after-school
rehearsal on Tuesday 28th June 4:15 – 5:30 pm.

From September, the cast will spend Drama & Music curriculum time rehearsing for the
performance and Friday evenings 4:15 – 5:30 pm in PAH.

There will also be an all-day whole cast rehearsal on a Sunday date in the autumn term which
will be confirmed prior to parts being allocated.
The cast must be available for all of these sessions as required (NB: They will not all be
required every Friday)

As with all productions, I will be working with Mr Schmid and the games department to ensure
that we minimise clashes with games commitments.
