DESCRIPTIVE TEXT

 Purpose / tujuan:
To describe something (person, animal, thing, place, plant) specifically.
(Untuk mendeskripsikan sesuatu: orang, binatang, benda, tempat,
tanaman secara khusus atau spesifik)

 Generic structure :
1. Identification
This part identifies a particular thing to be described
(Bagian ini mengidentifikasi sesuatu yang akan dideskripsikan)
2. Description
This part describes the parts and characteristics. It can be physical
characteristics, parts, qualities, habits, behaviors, size, and certain
characteristics.
(Bagian ini menyampaikan kepada pembaca tentang deskripsi
bagian2, kualitas, ciri fisik, kebiasaan, pola tingkah laku dan ciri-ciri
atau karakteristik tertentu )

 Language grammatical features / cirri kebahasaan:


 Simple present tense (verb-1)
 Use verbs of being and having (are, is, have/has)
 Use a descriptive language (describing color, shape, size, body parts,
habits, behaviors, and functions, etc)
 There will be:
1. Nouns
They are found in (1) the topic of description
2. Adjectives
They are used to describe the characteristics of the topic and the
parts. The characteristics can be the size (big), colour (brown,
blue), or the quality (clean).
3. Noun phrases
They are combination of adjectives and nouns (e.g.: a big and
clean classroom, two brown doors)
4. Verbs
The verbs usually used in a description are “have” (have, has) and
“to be” (am, is, are). The tense is simple present
