INTRODUCTION
Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation ( CPR )
- Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation ( CPR ) is an emergency procedure that combines chest compressions
often with artificial ventilation in an effort to manually preserve infact brain function until further
measures are taken to restore spontaneous blood circulation ad breathing in a person who is in cardiac
arrest. It is recommended in those who are unresponsible with no breathing abnormal breathing.
- Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation are called basic life support.
- The word resuscitate mean Recive.
- Resuscitation is any effort use to restore norma lungs and heart functions.
- There are close relationship between the function of brain, lungs and heart.
- When the patient stop breathing soon his heart will stop breathing because the blood bring pumped to
the brain will not contamined enough oxygen and the cardiac control central will be stop standing
signals to the heart causing it to beat improperly and than stop beating.
- When the patient is breathing but his heart stop beating blood will not be the lungs to pickup O2 not
will be the blood be send to the body tissue.
- The respiratory centre of the brain will not recive O2 they will stop sending signal and the patient will
stop breathing without O2 the brain will die.
- When the patient heart is breathing and his breathing but the cardiac and respiratory centre of the brain
are change soon both heart and lungs action with case.

Assisment:Assisment of client response is first stop.

Assisment
- Responsive
- Unresponsive
- No need of CPR
- Need for CPR

Using the :

- C : Chest Compression.
- A : Air way.
- B : Breathing.

Adult Client for CPR :

- Determine the client response is first step , if client is unresponsible than activate emergency response
system ( call first ).
- Assist the caratoid pulse within < 10 sec.
- Place the patient in a flat and hard surface , remove the air or water from the metress.
Chest Compression : Placement of hard –

- Lower half of sternum , thrust , bone ( middle of the chest )

- Depth : chest should be compressed maximum for 2 inch ( 5cm )
- Rate : 100/min.

Air Way :
- For provide O2 air way is opened by using 2 method :

A ; Head tilted chin lift- Spinal cord not injured .

B; Jaw thrust method – Use when spinal cord injured.

Breathing :
- After open patients airway breathing is provided as follows :

 One breath / sec .

 After providing one breathing give time for exhalation it means next breath provide after 6 – 8
sec .
 Breathing should be provided gently basic forcefully breath provided it will go into stomach
and cause abdominal distension.
 Nurse should not visible chest rise when providing breathing .
 Compression or ventilation ration :- 30 : 2.
 5 cycle must be perform in 2 minutes , if 2 persons pre bronning to CPR they will charge their
position after complision of 5 cycle / 2 min.
 If patient is in hospital and not responsing than use adult type of defibrillator. If adult type is
not available child pad use.
 After native method and providing breathing if patient mouth is seriously injured than use
other way of providing .

- Mouth to Mouth
- Mouth to Nose
- Mouth to Tracheastomy

Child: Perform chest compression when child is unresponsive and at the cell.
- Age : Above 1 year and below the 8 years.
- Assigmen of pulse : Normal Pulse .
- Time : < 10 sec .
Chest Compression :
- Placement of hard - middle of the chest lower half of the strunum .
- < 4 year age : 1 hand
- < 5 year age : 2 hand
- Depth of compression : 2 inch / 5 cm
- Compression should be hard and regularly

Air Way :
- Method of opening airway are as follows :

A : Head , chin , tilt lift

B : Jaw thrust method

Breathing: 1 breath / sec.

- Allow the air to more out from the lungs after giving breath.
- Nurse should provide gental breathing to avoid abdominal distraction.
Ratio: 15 : 1 / 30 : 2

- 100 compression / minute .

- Use deferbrillator when child is not responsive after performing 5 cycle of CPR is 2 minute.

Infant: < 1 year

- After checking the responsive of infant ( unresponsive ) than perform CPR is 2 min and then call for
help .

Circulation :
- Assessment of bronchild pulse.
- Chest compression : 100 / min.
- Placement of hand : just below the nipple line.
- Use of 2 thumbs and 2 fingers for performing chest compression.
- Depth : 11/2 inch / 3.75 cm .
