Configuring Signaling Link
Interworking with BSC
 In signaling configuration interwoking with BSC,
we need to configure:
 MTP destination signaling point, MTP link set, MTP route,
MTP link
 SCCP destination signaling point, SCCP subsystem

Copyright © 2008 Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. All rights reserved. Page15
Configuring Signaling Link
Interworking with BSC
 Add MTP destination signaling point:
 Command : ADD N7DSP
 For 2G network, only record 0 in the OFI table is valid. That
is, NI and OPC must be defined in No.0 record in the OFI
table.
 It is used to set whether the DSP provides STP function.
 It is used to indicate whether a DSP is a associated SP of
the local office. For BSC, set it to “TRUE”.

Copyright © 2008 Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. All rights reserved. Page16
Configuring Signaling Link
Interworking with BSC
 Add MTP Link set:
 Command:ADD N7LKS

 【Adjacent DSP name】 It specifies the DSP that interworks with the
MSOFTX3000 through direct routes. It must be specified.

 【Link Selection Mask】 It indicates how to achieve load sharing of

signaling services between multiple MTP links in the specified MTP link set.
It is a four-bit binary digit. Unless otherwise specified, it is recommended
to use the default value “B1111”, that is, no matter how many MTP links
are in the link set, the MSOFTX3000 will allocate the signaling services
among these links in load sharing mode.

Copyright © 2008 Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. All rights reserved. Page17
Configuring Signaling Link
Interworking with BSC
 Add MTP Route:
 Command:ADD N7RT
 It is used to point the MTP path to the destination signaling point.
 【Route Priority】 It is used to set the routing priority of an MTP
link set (signaling route). The link set with the highest priority will
be selected first; while that with lower priority will be selected
only after all signaling routes with higher priority are
unavailable. ”0” stands for the highest priority, ”1” stands for the
second, and so on. Generally the default value "0" is used.

Configuring Signaling Link
Interworking with BSC
 Add MTP Links (Part I):
 Command:ADD N7LNK.
 【Module Number】 If the MSOFTX3000 provides an MTP link through E1
(born over TDM), it is used to specify the module number of the WCSU or
WSGU processing this MTP protocol. If the MSOFTX3000 provides an MTP
link through built-in SG (born over M2UA), it is used to specify the module
number of the WBSG, WSGU, or WIFM processing this MTP protocol.
 【Link name】 It specifies an MTP link in the configuration database and
it’s a string of up to 32 characters.
 【Link Type】 It specifies the type of an MTP link. You must set it correctly
based on the actual networking; otherwise, the MTP link will not function
well. For BSC, usually we choose “TDM 64K LINK”

Copyright © 2008 Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. All rights reserved. Page19
Configuring Signaling Link
Interworking with BSC
 Add MTP Links (Part II):
 Command:ADD N7LNK.
 【E1 port】 It specifies the E1 port number which is occupied by
an MTP link.
 【Timeslot number of E1】It specifies the E1 timeslot which is
occupied by an MTP link.
 【Handle module number】 It defines the module for processing
signaling messages above the MTP layer. Usually we select another
WCSU/WCCU/WBSG/WIFM/WSGU board to process the signaling
messages in load share mode.

 Add SCCP Destination Signaling Point:
 Command:ADD SCCPDSP.

 This command is used to configure the signaling point information

for the peer BSC. One SCCPDSP record is uniquely identified by NI,
OPC and DPC. It is required that the OPC and DPC must be
consistent with those of the lower layer (MTP3/MTP3B/M3UA)
when SCCP DSP is configured.

Copyright © 2008 Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. All rights reserved. Page21
Configuring Signaling Link
Interworking with BSC
 Add SCCP Subsystem Number:
 Command:ADD SCCPSSN

 This command is used to add SCCP subsystems in the

MSOFTX3000 (local end) and the BSC (remote end). Subsystem
number (SSN) is the local addressing information used by SCCP to
identify the SCCP users under a SP.

 The local MSC, VLR, and SCMG must be configured. If they have
been configured, they need not to be configured here. Be sure to
use the LST SCCPSSN command to have a check for avoiding
repeated configuration.

 Add Call Source:
 Call Source:The set of subscribers who have the same call attributes can be classified
into the same call source. The classification of call sources is based on the calling
subscriber's attributes. The attributes mainly include the pre-received numbers, the
number initial set, the route selection source name, the failure source name and
whether preparing the number etc.
 Command:ADD CALLSRC
 【Route selection source name】 During the trunk route selection process, the
outgoing office direction which corresponds to the route selection name and the call
source name of the caller which corresponds to the route selection source name, plus
the factors such as Caller type, address information indicator and time, etc. define a
route together.
 【Failure source name】 Name of the processing modes for the failed call connections
from different call sources.

Basic Concept of M2UA
 SG and SIGTRAN
 SG, a signaling agent, can receive or transmit internal SCN signaling at the
edge of IP network. The SG in the SS7-Internet gateway can relay,
translate or terminate SS7 signaling.

 Signaling Transport (SIGTRAN) protocol stack is defined by the SIGTRAN

workgroup of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) for interworking
purposes between the Signaling System No. 7 (SS7) and the Internet
Protocol (IP).
