instructors of assignments. Including Introduction to sketching and sketching media, sketching simple
geometrical objects, plants, simple compositions.
Descriptive Geometry: Students will be given detailed lectures which include step by step
procedures which they will follow through & exercise. Principles of projection, projection line, planes,
solids, auxiliary projections, orthographic projections, intersection of lines planes, solids and
development of surfaces.

Objectives of the course

This course aims at developing the skills needed for documenting designs using drawings and for

Teaching - Learning Method and activities

Studio, Lecture, Assignment, project, Intensive Role play, Home Works, Lectures, visits and
comprehensive, interdisciplinary design exercise, supervision of project work basically this course is
based on studio exercises, so it has series of assignments which the students are expected to work
very hard on.

Instructional Material

Students are required to obtain equipment in order to complete the required assignments. The
following list of equipment is a minimum that you should obtain: Lead holder, mechanical pencils,
standard pencils (2H, 2B) lead of various weights, lead pointer, T-square or parallel slide, 45 &
30/60 degree triangles various sizes, circle template, templates (as needed per project), French
curve, compass, drafting tape, drawing tube/ holder, soft eraser, drafting brush, architectural scale,
and various paper Additionally, you are required to have a notebook for lecture, and a small
sketchbook for freehand drawing exercises.

Class Sessions

Class sessions are a full day, and divided in two-time sessions: the session 1 consists of the descriptive
geometry & drafting, while the session 2 consist the sketching part.
The sessions are generally divided into two parts:
1. Lecture, presentations & demonstration: Lecture will be held on the basic elements involved in
graphical communication skills by creating a portfolio of works from different examples so as to
record, and create a work habit of practicing and recording different architectural data through
manual graphics which will be evaluated and put to critique for their further understanding.
2. Consultations and In-class exercises: practice in class is critical. The character of the in-class
practice session should be guided by a commitment to building students' self-confidence on one
hand and nurturing a sense of creativity on the other.
