Chapter 1 Overview...........................................................................6
Chapter 2 Setup Color Mapping 32 System .....................................7
1.1 Overview
Color Mapping 32 works with the tri-function Topcon KR-7000P/ KR-7100P/ KR-
8000PA/ KR-8100PA/ KR-8100P, auto-refractometer, expanded auto-keratometer and
placido disk-based corneal mapping system. The data captured by the KR-7000P/ KR-
7100P/ KR-8000PA/ KR-8100PA/ KR-8100P is transferred to Color Mapping 32 via an
RS-232C interface, and is then reconstructed into corneal topography color map data.
The multiple documents include refractometer data, keratometer data, and a corneal
topography color map. To send refractometer and/or keratometer data to the TOPCON
CV Power Supply Unit, the Color Mapping 32 creates the necessary data for the
TOPCON CV Power Supply Unit and sends it using the second RS-232C port of the PC.
After reconstructing the corneal topography color map data, the multiple document report
may be viewed on the Windows screen or printed on a color printer.
The Color Mapping 32 provides various options for evaluating cornea, such as tangential
/ sagittal map, adjustable / normalized / absolute map, diopter / mm display, overlay
information display, auto-print, contact lens fitting simulation, etc. Default option
parameters may also be set.
In the above specifications, the video memory and the system memory may be the most
important hardware for Color Mapping 32. For a computer with 1MB of video memory,
the video mode can be set to 1024x768 256 colors and 640x480 16-million colors.
The faster the computer CPU, the better the performance of Color Mapping 32. In
general, performance of Windows is influenced most by the amount of system memory
and the speed of the hard disk. If the system appears to be running slow, try adding
system memory first. If it still seems slow, upgrade the computer with a faster CPU and
much larger hard disk.
Note that the necessary memory capacity and hard disk capacity
may differ for each PC.
1. Click the [Start] button of task bar and click [Run] menu.
2. The [Run] dialog box is displayed. Enter [A:\Setup.exe], insert the floppy disk #1/1
and click the [OK] button.
4. In this dialog box, specify the destination where Color Mapping 32 is to be installed.
It is not recommended to change the default destination directory. Click the ‘Next’
button to continue.
6. Select directory for storage of the color map image files that Patient Database
Records refer to.
When the Installation is done click on the shortcut icon to start the Color Mapping
32.The shortcut icon must be created by the Installation program on your desktop screen
when the installation is completed(see section 3-1)
4. The following dialog box will appear in order to make sure you are uninstalling the
Color Mapping 32 program. Click ‘Yes’ button to start the uninstalling.
If None was selected, Color Mapping 32 does not send data to the TOPCON CV Power
Supply Unit. Information about the old and new formats can be found in the TOPCON
CV Power Supply Unit documentation.

The contact lens simulation Parameter Setting dialog box will appear (Figure 6-4).
• Select simulation parameters and simulation report view from the Parameter Setting
dialog box, as specify in Section 6.4 later in this chapter.
• Click “OK” to display the contact lens simulation report. The image view type in the
Fitting Color Map box of the report is defined by the settings of the Image View
control buttons in the “Parameter Setting” dialog box (Section 6.4).
• The contact lens simulation report window will display Fitting Color Map view
(Figure 6-2).
For a three curve contact lens, BC, TD, OZ, SC, SCW, PC, and PCW are necessary. If
for a two-curve lens, SC and SCW, or PC and PCW may be omitted. Either SC or PC can
be ignored if their width field (SCW or PCW) is zero.
TORIC When a TORIC lens type has been selected, the BC2 and PC2 data fields
will be activated. There are basic curve 2 and peripheral curve2,
respectively. Listed below are two available lens structures in the TORIC
lens type.
BC (toric) + SC (spheric) + PC (spheric)
BC (toric) + PC (toric)
If the PC value is same as the PC2 value, the contact lens simulation
function assumes the lens has spherical peripheral curves. In this case, the
SC, and SCW fields will be activated. However, if PC differs from PC2,
since this is a toric peripheral, the SC and SCW fields become disabled.
ASPHERIC When an ASPHERIC lens type has been selected, the E1 and E2 fields
will be activated. The meanings of these fields are eccentricity 1 and 2
Page 45 TOPCON Corporation
respectively. These values are calculated from the corneal topography,
and initially, the two values are the same. One or both of them may be
changed according to the manufacture’s lens specification. For a spherical
secondary curve, set E2 equal to 0 to make it represent a spherical
secondary curve. Use the two lens structure as follows:
BC (aspheric) + SC (aspheric) + PC (spheric)
BC (aspheric) + SC (spheric) + PC (spheric)
In both cases, PC can be omitted when PCW is zero.
SOFT Most SOFT lenses have one BC and One PC, so secondary curve fields
are disabled. The fluorescein simulation is not available for soft lenses.
PMMA For a PMMA lens type, the software treats the lens structure in the same
way as a RGP lens.
Lens Type
Please refer to section “6.3 Handling each lens type”.
Overlays
The functions of the Overlay group of controls are the same as functions of the Overlay
control group in the Map Option Settings dialog box for the Color Map Report document
type, refer to the Section 5.4 of the manual.
Reference BC
Parameter helps to find a base curve that meets a certain apical clearance demand. The
software finds the radius of curvature of a sphere, which is defined by three points.
These points are the center of the lens with a certain apical clearance, and two optic zone
end points, which touch the cornea.
Sagittal Vault
If the sagittal vault value is supposed to be a certain value, input that value. An
appropriate TD value will be calculated for this sagittal vault.
Image View
This option Is available for KR-8000PA/ KR-8100PA/ KR-8100P
The functions of the Image View control group are the same as the functions of its
counterpart in the Map Option Settings dialog box of the Color Map Report document
type, refer to the Section 5.7 of the manual. There are three alternative views including
the default Fitting Color Map view available and may be selected by setting the Image
View control group in on of the following options:
• MAP option to display Fitting Color Map(Figure 6-2)
• IMAGE option to display eye image the same as in the Color Map Report, refer to
Section 5.7(Figure 5-4)
• OVERLAY option to display Fitting Color Map overlaid with eye image (Figure 6-3)
Available setting parameters for the default and register contact lens sets are shown
below.
CL Advice Enable
This option Is available for KR-8000PA/ KR-8100PA/ KR-8100P
A check box is located in the ‘Contact Lens Parameters Default Setting’ dialog box
(Figure 6-6).
This check box enables automatic setting of the simulation parameters for selected lens
type (Section6.2) to the values calculated by the instrument. These values are displayed
in the ‘<CL Advice>’ section of the Color Map Report, please refer to the Section
4.2(Figure 4-2). CL Advice data is available only for RGP and ASPHERIC type of lens.
The other lens type selections are disabled as long as the check box is checked.
