Abstract (In 200 words)
Our project introduces a GSM-based Internet of Things-driven health monitoring system for
paralysis patients, powered by an Arduino Mega (ATmega2560) microcontroller. The system
integrates multiple sensors, including flex sensors and a DHT11 temperature sensor, to monitor patient
health and movement continuously. Flex sensors, installed on three fingers, detect movements beyond
set limits, triggering real-time SMS notifications via a GSM module. These alerts are displayed on a
16x2 LCD screen and sounded audibly through a buzzer.
In environments such as hospitals and NGOs, where paralyzed patients struggle to
communicate due to motor control loss, our system offers a vital solution. Patients can convey
messages by moving a body part with residual motion ability, translating these movements into
messages on an LCD screen. For unattended situations, the system sends SMS notifications to
caregivers, ensuring constant monitoring and timely responses.
Our device enables effective communication and interaction between paralyzed patients and
their caregivers.
Advantage: It significantly advances the comprehensive care and proactive management of paralysis
patients, promoting improved communication and healthcare outcomes.
