ORDER:

The Commissioner of Endowments Department Hyderabad in the

letter read above, has reported that there are thousands of notified
temples in the State which are not in a position even to bear the
expenditure for the Dhoopa Deepa Naivedyam and salaries of Archakas
due to their poor financial position. The condition of such poor and
needy temples has become a cause of concern among the public.

2. In the G.O. 2nd read above, orders were issued approving the list
of 2016 temples under Dhoopa Deepa Naivedyam Scheme.

3. Further in the G.O. 3rd read above, orders were issued framing
certain guidelines and procedure duly permitting the Commissioner of
Endowments Department to issue notification to select the eligible
temples under Dhoopa Deepa Naivedyam Scheme and finalize them for
award of the grant.

4. Government have reviewed the status under this scheme.

Financial assistance is provided from CGF to meet the remuneration of
the Archakas and Dhoopa Deepa Naivedyam in respect of 3,165
temples in the State. There is a lot of demand for providing
financial assistance under this scheme to many more temples in the
State. But it is becoming difficult to extend the scheme in view of
financial constraints under CGF. A lot of representationS are pouring in
from the public representatives to cover some more temples in their
areas under the scheme. In this connection, it is felt desirable to
encourage NRI devotees, Philanthropists, Business People, Industrialists
and persons who have faith in God to come forward to adopt the ancient
and needy temples in villages / rural areas / Semi-Urban areas of their
choice in the state under Dhoopa Deepa Naivedyam Scheme, provided
they donate required funds to Government. If an opportunity is provided
to such people, Government may be in a position to provide financial
assistance from the funds donated by such people for adoption of a good
number of temples under Dhoopa Deepa Naivedyam Scheme.
5. Accordingly, Government have introduced the following policy
to enable several ancient and needy temples in the State enlisted under
Dhoopa Deepa Naivedyam Scheme in a big way.

i) If any donor comes forward to deposit an amount of Rupees .

one lakhs only (Rs.1,00,000/-) with the Assistant Commissioner
of Endowments of the District concerned, such donor can be
considered to choose one temple in the village/rural area/semi-
urban area of his/her choice wherein Dhoopa Deepa
Naivedyam scheme will be implemented through an Archaka
appointed by the Endowments Department for a period of three
years.
ii) In such adopted temples, Archakas appointed by the
Endowments Department will perform pooja in the name of the
donor every day.
iii) If the donor is satisfied/ pleased, he/she may provide one more
lakh of rupees for the purpose of renewal after expiry of three
years.
iv) No right nor any authority can be exercised by the donor nor
any interference is expected of in the day-to-day maintenance
of the temple. However, Temple Honours as per the local
custom or practice will be extended during the visit of the
donor to the temple.

6. The Commissioner of Endowments Department shall take further

of necessary action accordingly in the matter.
