Task 9 Rabi̇a
Task 9 Rabi̇a
When we look at the syllabus from ministery of education website, we can see that there are
four columns. First is for ‘Unit/Theme’, second for ‘Functions and Useful Language’, third
for ‘Language Skills and Learning Outcomes’ and the fourth for ‘Suggested Contexts,Tasks
and Assignments’. Under the Functions and Useful Language section we can see expected
instructions to be used and see the vocabulary list which shows what to learn for students or
revise in the lesson. Language Skills and Learning Outcomes section helps course book
authors to design their units, activities and tasks also for examiners to prepare exam
questions. In the last column, it gives us an idea about what kind of texts or content should be
used in the coursebook or what kind of tasks can be assigned.
In coursebooks the questions asked for students should not be so general and the teacher
should guide the students while they search for answers. Teachers should do warm up
activities if it is necessary and it has to be not overlapped with other warm up activities.
They should check the vocabulary in the activity and determine if the words are used in
daily conversations frequently. As a teacher they should be on alert about mistakes in the
coursebook and if they found one it should be corrected because the students will learn
incorrect forms and it will stay permanent in the coursebook. They can use reading texts for
encouraging students to write their own paragraphs. At the end of the unit students should do
self reflecting and assest themselves according to the checklist. Teachers should remember to
not to overload students with unnecessary information that is not placed in the objectives.
