Assignment 8

Fabric Painting

Objectives:
To enhance students’ ability to conceptualize and translate emotions, aesthetics, and
inspiration into visual formats. By developing mood boards, students will learn to explore
a selected theme comprehensively, studying its colors, textures, patterns, and imagery to
establish a foundation for their creative work.

Exercise:
Students will select one of the following themes for their mood boards:

1. Nature’s Wonders
2. Urban Culture
3. The Future
4. Cultural Heritage
5. Dreamscapes

They will collect images, fabric swatches, color palettes, and other visual references that
encapsulate their chosen theme. Once the mood board (digital) is completed, students will
use it as the basis for developing a unique composition that will serve as the design
blueprint for painting a garment of their choice, such as a hoodie, t-shirt, tote bag, or
jeans etc. Through this process, students will practice translating thematic elements into
wearable art that is both visually striking and conceptually aligned with their mood board.
