About him✨
YEAR 2022
It was November 27th his birthday, I was using my sisters phone and I saw him…
well, pictures of him being posted by her friends and I added him on my snap and
the next day he added back. Who’s he? He’s my first love.
YEAR 2023
(Note: • is used when I’m texting and - is used when he’s texting)
• really?
⁃ welcome to the dreamers club
• calm down 😭😂
• he gets paid $430 million a year?
⁃ yh, he will be paid that if he chooses to go to that Arabian team .
• Tohm it’s settled I’m going to marry a footballer
⁃ Good luck finding one
• guy😭
⁃ I'll put it in prayers don't worry
And we started chatting I told him that " I don't chase I attract " not knowing I
was going to break that statement of mine soon.
⁃ really?
• yeah😌
⁃ Sannu magnet 🧲
• Yeah 😌
⁃ how many have you attracted so far
• uncountable🥱
⁃ wow I'm getting scared so ur like a world class player
• you're **(I corrected him cause when you're talking to me you write
your words in full)
⁃ it is what it is
He asked if I knew him and I was like “nah you?” He said no and proceeded to
introducing himself.
It’s been 30 minutes and he still hasn’t replied me where is he, maybe he slept I
should sleep too. I woke up for fajr and saw his text
It’s just 6:30 and my mums been bugging me to go to school plus my friends have
been telling to come too so I’m having second thoughts.
⁃ yh you should
• okay I mean you’ll keep me company right?
⁃ yess finally
• Ik everyone will be surprised
⁃ why?
• cause normally I take two weeks leave
⁃ on god
• yes🤣
⁃ ur school seems nice
• you don’t know anything that’s why😭
⁃ 😂maybe,Sha in general no secondary school is sweet I’ve changed
secondary school before thinking we should flex,I ended up suffering equally. won’t
they seize your phone if they see it?
• yeah but how will they see it?
⁃ good point be careful
• okay😂
⁃ good chat me later when you’re free
I really can’t remember exactly what happened cause all this happened a year ago
anyways the director gave me 50k . Actually what happened was she called me and my
classmates to the e-learning and asked us who cheats during exam. All my classmates
were just staring at her and I decided to raise my hand cause who doesn’t cheat?
And what could be the worst that could happen. Suddenly she calls me out but I
wasn’t scared, she then tells the admin to get her a Cheque from her office and
hands it over to me saying
“I’m giving you 50k for your honesty, we need more students like you”.
As I stepped into my room, I could feel the weight of the day slowly lifting off my
shoulders.I made my way over to my bed, gently placing my bag on the floor. With a
sigh of relief, I began to unbutton my uniform, feeling the fabric loosen its grip
on me.
One by one, I carefully removed each piece, revealing the comfortable clothes
underneath. It was like shedding the stress of the day along with the uniform. I
dumped the uniform into my laundry hamper, I climbed onto my bed, sinking into my
pillows. I reached for my phone, just to remember Rafiq was supposed to keep me
company in school today, he told me to chat him up when I was free but I was too
busy with my 50k that’s not yet mine. I rush excitedly and texted him.
I could feel the disbelief when he said “really?” Just then I checked if forgot to
reply him just to notice his bitmoji in the chat he’s been there for like 10
minutes I don’t know if I’m scared or amazed the hell could he be thinking about?
He then sent a snap with the caption “with chocolate any exam is possible” and I
laughed.
A newfound excitement filled the air. I’ve never come across a guy that likes
Korean films. I felt relieved when he responded positively most guys get disgusted
or just respond negatively when you mention anything Korean . I wonder can I
suggest him some Korean series that I absolutely adore. Ouu yes and my favorite
Alchemy of souls😍.
He sent me snap of the series on his iPad and I was like yeah. I couldn’t resist
the urge to compliment him or something I just wanted to express the feeling I had
knowing he likes Korean movies too so I said
• woah
⁃ 😭😭
• collect past questions
⁃ our course monitor said nothing regarding past questions so we on our
own
Wow turns out their seniors don’t keep their pass questions. I can’t even imagine
school without pass questions. After a while we had nothing to say so he asked me
to gist him, I didn’t know what to say but I thought it’s a good time to bring his
ex. I knew a lot about hanardeey, her being his ex wasn’t really a good impression.
When I brought her up his mood changed and he nagged that everyone he knows knows
her. I asked him if he likes her and he goes
⁃ answered
• well I don’t like her
⁃ why?
• she lies
⁃ if you don’t mind me asking what did she do ?
• Long story but okay
• She used to date apple pie. He's a player So we all were in this group
then he started flirting with this girl they Kept on exchanging
paragraphs Hanardeey asked me and my sister to help her out, like she was even
crying so we went to defend her.She said she would join us and sigh but then people
started arguing in the group And we were exchanging insults so instead of her to
join us she wrote a useless paragraph saying how her relationship is not our
business, everyone in the group was like we were doing oversabi, everyone turned
against us.It wasn't funny. She called my sister and was like her sister wrote the
paragraph, my stupid sister believed her but I knew she was no good I told my
sister to unfriend her or tell her to fix what she did but this girl kept giving
her excuses she’s so two faced, I’m writing too long so I’ll stop here
⁃ just tell me
• okay she just ruins her friends relationships she attacks the guy acts
like your friend and ruins the relationship she spoiled my sisters own and they’re
no longer dating
⁃ ahh💔
• that was how the told her friend to her face that she was going to
break her relationship. They fought but didn’t end up breaking up there are a lot
of dramas but let’s stop here
⁃ why is she like that?
Bro she’s your ex stop acting like you don’t know her🙄
I normally post memes even tho I don’t do that anymore he replied to my meme it was
about how boys in Nigeria don’t chat girls they interview them if you don’t ask
them questions they have nothing to say.
⁃ exactly
• but leaving me on r is definitely not the solution
⁃ sorry about that i just slept off
• don’t say sorry you’re obviously going to do it again
⁃ okay👀
• yeah
⁃ I won’t say it’s not going to happen again but just know it’s not
intentional
• okay
⁃ we cool?
• yeah yeah
⁃ 😁 we’ll sleep at the same time today insha Allah
• okay🤣 omg did I tell you what the director said?
⁃ no what did he say?
• it’s a she and I don’t think she’s giving me my money😭 and she took a
picture of me holding the check 😭 it’s not funny😭 me that sat down and wrote a
list of what I was going to buy
⁃ on the bright side you got a picture with a check😁
• 💀💀 if she posts my picture I’ll report the school’s account
⁃ 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣sue her to court
• deffs
⁃ I’ll be your lawyer
• 🤝🏼
⁃ 🤝🏾oh well I guess you ain’t getting that money
• 😭😭 plus maths assignments
⁃ let me help
• okay through chats?
⁃ snap a question
I sent him the snap of the questions waiting for his response. He solves the first
question and sends it to me. Not gonna lie I was impressed, his intelligence and
willingness to help sparked a sense of attraction. He solves all the questions.
It’s actually a turn on seeing how he effortlessly solves the math problems. I’ve
always been bad at maths ever since I entered senior secondary but my parents don’t
know that cause I always find a way to pass. We kept on chatting and the
conversation flowed effortlessly.
• good boy
⁃ man like me entering 20 this year, aren’t you 12?
• guy😭 a whole me is 12
⁃ you won’t pass 14
• 😭😭😭
Okay I am 14 but is he supposed to know that ? No.
⁃ ok fine you’re 16
• 15🥲
Yes I lied but who cares plus at least I didn’t agree to being 16
He agreed with me, I asked him if he wanted me to send him my pictures and turns
out he wanted to ask me since but thought I wouldn’t like it .
19th January
Yesterday, we dared each other to only communicate through voice notes. So today,
we started with a simple "hi, how was your night?" I replied, saying it was fine
and asked about his night too.
We then transitioned into talking about our preferences when it comes to being
around people. I mentioned how I love being around people because it makes me
happy. But he shared that he doesn't enjoy it as much, feeling like he's held back
and can't be himself.
He was curious about my background, so I told him that my dad is Kanuri and my mom
is Shuwa. He responded by saying, "That explains the beauty!" and asked if I could
speak Shuwa. I admitted that I can speak it, but not fluently. He shared that his
mom started teaching him Shuwa, and we both laughed about how our moms randomly
speak it and expect us to reply.
We jokingly questioned what our moms were thinking, not teaching us when we were
younger. I playfully asked him to help me ask them, and we both shook our heads in
amusement.
So, we were chatting, and the topic of football came up. Turns out, the team he
supports won a match, and he proudly said, "We won!" I had to admit that I don't
watch football at all. I don't even know the teams or what's happening in the game.
But he still asked me, "Messi or Ronaldo?" I randomly chose Ronaldo, even though I
don't watch football. My heart just likes him better. But he seemed disappointed
and surprised. I guess he's a big Messi fan.
20th January
Rafiq sent me a flyer for the Africa Technology Expo, claiming it was free. I
couldn't help but laugh. I noticed the event was starting at 8am and I started
teasing Rafiq about attending such an early morning event. He invited me to join
him but I politely turned him down cause I value my sleep too much to wake up that
early. He called me lazy girl, and we both laughed.
I asked him if he like Baze university better since he went there often despite him
being a Nile student. We started playing truth or dare, and i asked Rafiq about the
worst thing he had ever done. He responded with a surprising answer, saying that he
had made someone sad. As if he wasn’t going to break me soon. I continued the
conversation asking him how university was going. He shared that he recently went
on an outing with his friends to a restaurant called Ancient Flavors. He even sent
me some pictures of their fun time there.
21st January
Rafiq sent me a snap, it was a drawing. I guess he’s an artist! I got so excited
and told him I wanted him to draw me too. But he said he couldn't because it might
turn out ugly, and he doesn't draw people anymore because it's haram. I remembered
that drawing people is considered haram too, so I understood. But deep down, I
really wanted him to draw me. 😭
He asked about my height, and I playfully said I'm 5'6" (I wish!). Then he told me
he's 5'7 and he seemed surprised by my height. I started telling him this funny
story about when my friends and I went to watch a drift, but there were tall boys
all around blocking my view. I tried jumping, but it was no use. Even my friends
were laughing even tho most of them were just an inch taller. Rafiq was like,
"Eyyah," and then he said, "I would've carried you if I was there." I replied with
an "aww" and a heart emoji. ❤️
22nd January
I was scrolling through my Snapchat stories when I stumbled upon a story from a
girl selling milk cakes. They were looking yummy but I remembered my previous
experience with a milk cake that tasted awful so I decided to ask Rafiq since the
girl attended Nile. I sent him a message asking if he ever tried her milk cakes and
if they were nice.
He replied me saying he’s not a big fan of milk cakes unless they’re chocolate-
flavored. He mentioned that people told him that this girls milk cakes were
actually good so he encouraged me to give it a try.
I decided to give it a try so I messaged the girl selling the milk cakes and
ordered one. The girl quickly responded confirming the order after the payment.
Rafiq texted me “wyd?” And I replied “just chatting, you?”
Haha,he sent me a snap of his assignments, and I was like, "Which subject is this?"
He replied, "Intro to Computer." Then we asked each other how our day was going,
and I mentioned that I was actually fasting. He was like, "Pele, it's good Ramadan
is around the corner." I sighed and said, "Yeah, I still have 8 more fasts to go."
😭 I replied with a sad face, "Ik😭 ".
And he was like, "Kaiiii".
He gave me some advice, saying that the sooner I pay back the missed fasts, the
more peace of mind I'll have until Ramadan. He suggested doing 2 fasts per week if
possible.
Then I mentioned that I'm fasting tomorrow and changed the topic to football. I
asked him which team he supports. When I told him I support Arsenal, he jokingly
asked, "You just woke up and decided to support Arsenal?" And I confidently
replied, "We're better!" 😄
⁃ wth are you saying arsenal aren’t better they just got a good head
start
• no I decided to watch football because of someone then I saw arsenal at
the top
⁃ that doesn’t make them the best 😒
• really?🤣
⁃ yes they’re currently just in form
• they won so
⁃ the last time they won the premiere league was the year before I was
born. Let me do the maths for you 19 years back
• but then people posted how arsenal won so I like them
⁃ who was the someone?
• one boy like this
⁃ ouuuuuu😏 you got a boyfriend
• he’s just a friend don’t be quick to judge . Anyways someone wants me
to support Liverpool are they good?
⁃ yh they are😒
• why’re you being sarcastic
⁃ why won’t you support my team
• man city?
⁃ yh
• okay boss I’ll support them from today
⁃ yes you are😌
• I guess I’m changing my Home Screen then
⁃ yes put Messi
• Okayy
So, a bunch of my friends were all hyped up about football, they kept posting about
it and then this guy named Mamman showed up. Mamman asked if I support Liverpool,
and we started talking about it. He convinced me to change my home screen to
Liverpool, but now Rafiq is trying to make me support Man City. I guess I'll just
listen to my boss then!
Anyway, Rafiq asked if I had eaten, and I told him they cooked tuwo, which made me
a bit sad cause it's not really my thing. Rafiq, being Rafiq, said it's his fave. I
sent him a snap of my fave chocolate and he asked if it was sweet. I told him it's
super sweet and that my dad brings it for me when he travels. Rafiq then told me
that the only things he likes are tuwo and bread. I was like, "God, what about rice
and chicken?" He said rice is everywhere, but tuwo is a talent. I jokingly said I
can cook tuwo (even though I can't, haha). He said if I can cook it, then I have
talent. I replied, "I can't, but I'm good at everything. I just need to try💅💅" He
laughed, and then he asked me what else I can cook. I proudly said I can make
Indomie and boil water. He was like, "Ahhh," and I added, "But I don't like boiling
water '
cause what if I burn my precious hands? 💅" He went, "Ahhh," again, and we both
laughed.
Then he said, "You can't be serious," and I confessed that I haven't really cooked
anything else. He was surprised and said, "Wow." I told him maybe in the future
I'll try my
hand at cooking more. And then he goes, "I can be a better wife than current you”
then I reply “don’t worry my husband will be the one to cook” Then I add “shebi you
can cook” and he’s like “hmm Dey there “ and I’m like “are you marrying a wife or
a cook 💀💀” and he says “if anyone woman should depend on me cooking she’s going to
fast for 365 days”and I laugh “I like eating so it matters if he can cook “ I say
and he’s like “wahala for you I personally don’t like stress that’s why I chose
software engineering so I can be self employed and work from home “ and I ask “so
you’ll not cook for your wife ? What a shame“
what time does he plan on sleeping and he’s like he has to read so like 2 or 3. I
offer to join him when he’s reading so he tells me to call by 11 and I’m like no
you should call by 11 and he’s like okay . He calls me but we don’t get to talk
cause it’s kinda noisy he apologized for it saying it’s his cousin we go back to
chatting and he asks if I ate my chocolate and I’m like of course. I tell him I
wanna do tahajjud so I’m waiting till 3 and he’s like that’s good.
25th January
Our streaks broke and it was my fault so I apologized and asked to start afresh he
was hesitant at first but sent a snap later.
30th January
I know what you must thinking who tf is his friend well it’s his best friend
Maryam I think. We kept talking, we vibed so when we talked the conversations just
flowed seamlessly.
2nd February
There was a twist to Hussain's personality. He had a unique way of expressing his
interest by playfully teasing me, blending meanness with flirtation. At first, it
caught me off guard.
In the midst of our conversations, Hussain asked me to spam him. I sent him a few
pictures but he kept asking for more claiming he couldn’t get enough of me. He also
kept showering me with compliments. He couldn't resist expressing his admiration,
calling me gorgeous and stunning. When I spammed him he sent me like 5 compliments
-you’re so pretty
-you look so stunning here😍
-wow teemah you’re gorgeous
-Masha Allah Tabarakallah
-Allahumma Barik
I didn’t talk much with Rafiq today, we just sent each other streaks and asked
about each other’s wellbeing.
These school people want to kill us with assignments so I was busy with that.
3rd February
I was kind of passive with Hussain. I wasn’t really free with him as I was with
Rafiq. I was mean to him. He thought I was playing hard to get but I don’t play
hard to get I am hard to get unfortunately I wasn’t like that with Rafiq😔.
I just reached my school El-Amin. I walked into the classroom, already feeling
drained from the day before. The thought of having to write notes again made my
heart sink. I mean, who enjoys scribbling away for hours, right? As I settled into
my seat, hoping for a miracle, our teacher strolled in, armed with a marker and a
board full of knowledge waiting to be unleashed. He started writing a long note on
the board. The struggle was real. I glanced around the classroom and saw my
classmates diligently writing down every word, their focus unwavering. Meanwhile, I
sat there, torn between the desire to chat with my friends and the pressure to
conform. It was like a battle between my tired hands and my longing for social
interaction. But hey, I couldn't just give up, right? So, I mustered up some
determination and reluctantly started taking notes. It felt like an eternity, with
each stroke of the pen feeling heavier than the last. But amidst the exhaustion, I
couldn't help but daydream about the fun conversations and laughter that awaited me
during the break. Sometimes, it's the little moments with friends that make school
bearable, don't you think? So, there I was, caught in this antithetical struggle
between the desire to escape the monotony and the need to keep up with the academic
demands. It was a battle of wills, but hey, at least it made for an interesting
story, right? ✏️😅
I got back home tired and exhausted from school. Desperately craving a peaceful
sleep. I greeted my mum. My sister asked how was school and I was like
“exhausting😣” I wasted no time and quickly discarded my uniform into the laundry
hamper, jumped into bed, and turned on the glorious air conditioner. Ah, the
comfort! Just as i were about to drift off into dreamland, my phone started buzzing
non-stop with notifications. Annoyed, i put it on "do not disturb" mode, hoping for
some uninterrupted shut-eye. Finally, after a mere five minutes of blissful sleep,
my mom barged into my room with the dreaded news that the Mallam had arrived. Oh
no, there goes my peaceful slumber! In a state of sadness and exhaustion, i dragged
myself out of bed, threw on a gown, put on my hijab, and made my way to read. Life
really knows how to mess with our sleep plans, doesn't it?
I read my Quran for some minutes. Just then it was time for Asr, so we all went to
pray. After praying I go back to my Mallam and finish reading. It was 5:30 finally.
My mallam leaves.
I had just returned from my session. Feeling refreshed and spiritually connected
after reading the Quran. I realized I wasn't feeling sleepy anymore. I decided to
retreat to my room and grab my phone to check out all the messages and snaps that
were waiting for me. You know that feeling when you've been away from your phone
for a while and it's like a whole new world of notifications? Well, that's exactly
what I experienced.
I opened up Snapchat first and hit up Hussein, who asked me how school was. I
couldn't help but spill all the tea about how exhausting and draining the day had
been. It's always nice to have someone to vent to, you know? Then, I moved on to
Rafiq's message, where he straight up said he was bored. And guess what? I could
totally relate! I responded telling him that I felt the same. I decided to call my
friend Amina, who had been trying to reach me earlier. We chatted, laughed, and
gossiped for a whole hour. It's those precious moments with your friends that make
everything better, don't you think? Eventually, we ended the call to go and pray
Magrib. Life is full of these little moments that bring us joy and connection.
5th February
Today was such a wild ride! So, I woke up this morning, completely forgetting that
it was test week. Can you believe it? I strolled into school, all carefree, only to
be hit with a surprise test in commerce. Panic mode activated!
Luckily, my friends had my back. Shebe being the sneaky genius that she is, opened
up her book and put it in her locker. She proceeded to answering the theory
questions. After she was done she gave me the answers discreetly, what a wonderful
soul.
Teamwork makes the dream work, right? I have to admit, commerce was a piece of cake
with all those answers flying around.
Then came the English test. The whole class was there, offering English expertise
left and right. I strategically sat next to Rahmatullah, the genius of the class. I
managed to answer a few questions myself, but let's be real, I took some sneaky
peeks at Rahmatullah's work too. Gotta do what you gotta do, right?
After school, I was exhausted but also starving. My mom always complains about my
appetite, but hey, a girl's gotta eat! The housemaid brought me my favorite meal:
rice and stew with chicken. I practically jumped for joy and couldn't wipe the
smile off my face. It's the little things, you know?
So, there I was, happily devouring my food, while binge-watching Netflix. And let
me tell you, nothing makes me blush as hard as a good, good meal. Ah, life's little
pleasures!
After finishing my meal and returning my plate to the kitchen, I hop onto Snap. The
squad group is buzzing with chats, and I see my friends laughing and having a great
time. I can't resist joining in on the fun! Hussein is guilt-tripping me as usual,
but I always have a mean comeback. His reactions are just hilarious!
Then, Rafiq drops some exciting news. He saw a big mallam with a beard and all, who
said that bitmojis aren't haram. I suggest being on the safer side and not just
having one, but Rafiq brushes it off, saying he'll remove it if he finds another
video saying it's haram. It's like an on-and-off thing, a never-ending debate that
keeps us laughing.
Rafiq then jokes about finding a video that says drawing isn't haram, and I tell
him I don't think he'll ever find one 🤣.
Feeling determined to satiate my hunger, I grab my phone and dial up Street 13, the
go-to spot for delicious comfort food. I place an order for loaded fries with all
the toppings and a mouthwatering burger that promises to be a flavor explosion.
With a quick payment, I eagerly anticipate the arrival of my much-needed feast.
Finally, the doorbell rings, and I rush to answer it. I skillfully sneak the
aromatic package into my room, making sure my sisters don't catch wind of my secret
stash. But alas, my stealth skills are no match for Sara and Chuchu, my mischievous
younger siblings. They appear out of nowhere, their eyes widening at the sight of
my indulgent meal.
With pleading eyes and adorable pouts, they beg for just a taste. Reluctantly, I
give in and share a few bites with them, unable to resist their puppy eyes. They
giggle and savor the flavors, their excitement contagious.
Once they've had their fair share, I ask them to leave my room, promising to make
it up to them later. Finally, I have the room all to myself, free to enjoy my
loaded fries and burger in peace. I grab my cozy blanket, settle into my favorite
spot, and fire up Netflix.
With each episode, my worries and hunger fade away, replaced by a sense of
contentment and pure enjoyment. The combination of delicious food and captivating
entertainment creates the ultimate recipe for a perfect night.
6th February
My mom wakes my sister and me for Fajr at 5:20. We take turns going to the
bathroom, performing ablution, and praying. After that, we fall back asleep. By
6:50, my mom comes back and wakes us up again to get ready for school. I check the
time on my phone while still in bed and decide to give myself 10 more minutes.
Finally, at 7, I get up, head to the bathroom for a shower, and finish by 7:15.
Then, I spend some time on my phone chatting with Hussein and my friend Amina until
7:30 when my mom comes into the room with my younger siblings already dressed and
ready. She points out that I'm not ready yet and says I always make my sisters
late. I defend myself by saying that Anisah, my older sister, is almost ready too,
just needs to put on her socks and tie. I quickly put away my phone and get ready
in a rush. We all make it to the door, and before leaving the house, our mom
reminds us to say the dua "Bismillahi tawakkaltu 'alallah, wa la hawla wa la
quwwata illa billah." Then, we hop in the car and off we go to school! 🚌🏫
So, after reaching school, my sisters and I go our separate ways to our classes. As
I enter my class, Hauwa and Radiya, my classmates, playfully tease me, saying,
"Sheriff, you're so early!" I find my seat next to my best friend, Ilham, and we
start chatting. But, uh-oh, the teacher catches us making noise and sends us out of
the class. Next up is math, and let me tell you, I'm not the best at it. I sit next
to Rahmatullah, with Ilham by my side. The lesson is about graphs, and luckily, I
understand it. I pass the answers to Ilham and sneakily take a peek at the
objective from Rahmatullah. Done and dusted! During break time, Ilham drags me to
our friend group's eating spot. We join our chairs together with a table in
between, kind of like a mini dining area, and enjoy our meal together. Phew, after
a tiring day, I head back home, always exhausted. And then, of course, our mallam
comes over.
