Activity 4: Creative Writing Challenges

Direction: Read the prompt carefully. Use your imagination to develop the setting, characters,
conflict, climax, and resolution. Use the provided outline to organize your story.

Prompt: Imagine that you are exploring an old, abandoned library. While you are walking, you
suddenly see an old story book covered with dust. As you open it, you are unexpectedly
transported in the story itself, becoming one of the characters. But the story is unfinished. In
order to get back to your world, you must write an ending for the story.

Outline Structure:

1. Setting – Write an introduction where it describes the old, abandoned library. Detail the
scenario where you find the old storybook and how it transports you in the story.
2. Characters – Imagine that you are the main character of the story. Include other
characters from the story within the book. Who are they? What are their roles? How will
you communicate to them?
3. Conflict – Realizing that being trapped inside the book’s story may present a lot of
challenges and obstacles. What problem do you face? What are the possible
consequences? How do you interact with the characters in the story?
4. Climax – You discovered that the story is not finished and you must write the ending.
What are the ideas you think to solve the problems?
5. Resolution – When writing the ending of the story, how do you resolve the problems or
the conflicts? What happens to the characters in the story? What is the ending of the
story? How has the experience change you? What are the lesson you learned in the story?
