VERY SHORT ANSWER QUESTIONS:

1.Who is the first Mughal Emperor?


Ans: Babur was the first Mughal Emperor. He was born in a
small place called Farghana in central Asia.
2.Why did Babur come to India?
Ans: When Babur was ruling Farghana in central Asia, at the
same time, the Lodis were ruling over the Delhi Sultanate.
The local rulers were not happy with the Lodis. As a result,
they sent a message to Babur to come India and defeat the
Lodis.
3.Why did the Mughal Emperors try their best to raise the
productivity of the land? How did they do it?
Ans: The Mughal Emperors tried their best to raise the
productivity of the land because agriculture was the primary
occupation in those times and land was the most important
source of revenue.
4.How can we say that Jahangir continued the policy of
tolerance initiated by Akbar?
Ans: Jahangir followed the religious tolerance policy of Akbar
by giving equal facilities to all his subjects irrespective of
their religion.
5.Differentiate between Diwan-i-Khas and Diwan-i-Aam.
Ans: Diwan-i-Khas-This was the hall of private audience
where the emperor would consult with his advisors and meet
important visitors.
Diwan-i-Aam-This was the hall of public audience. The
public could come and put their problems before the
emperor.
LONG ANSWER QUESTIONS:
1.What was the Mansabdari system? How was it organised?
Ans: The Mansabdari system was a grading system used by
the Mughal rulers to fix the rank and salary of a Mansabdar.
They were nobles who occupied various positions in the
administration of the Mughal Empire. They were appointed
and dismissed by the Mughal Emperor.
2.Why do you think Akbar is considered by many as one of
Indias greatest rulers?
Ans: He was called Akbar the Great due to his making an
unbeaten record for military campaigns. His intelligence and
winning strategies have helped him achieve the title.
3.Write the administrative system of Sher shah Suri?
Ans: Sher shah Suri was brilliant organiser both in military
and civil affairs. His administration was based on of welfare
state and introduced many reforms. Sher shah Suri was the
supreme head of the central administration. He divided the
government into several departments. Each department was
under the charge of a ministers, assist by other officials. Sher
Shah Suri was always active. he went on regular tours of
inspection and set up an efficient spy system.
“Abbas Sherwani “wrote the history of Sher Shah Suri in
1579.Sher Shah Suri constructed an excellent network of roads
in his empire. Grand trunk (GT) Road was one such highway
constructed and was called Sarak-i-Azam or highway. It started
from Sonagarh in Bengal and then passes through Lahore in
Punjab and ends at Multan.
There are two exotic architecture of the Surs are the
Purana Qila(old fort) in Delhi and Tomb of Sher Shah at Sasaram
in Bihar.

Collect the pictures of six Mughal Empires and paste in the
book or prepare the chart and paste in the classroom.
