The time shown in both the clocks is same, that is 6:30.


1n the first case, it is morning and in the second case,
it is evening. There are 12 hours in between.
A day consists of 24 hours.
So, two hands of the clock rotate twice showing 1 hour = 60 minutes
1 minute = 60 seconds
similar timings twice a day.
1 hour = 3600 seconds
We use a.m . and p .m. in 12-hour clock. 1 dm = 24 hours

24-Hour Clock
A 12-hour clock is what we generally use.
But in railways, airlines and armed forces, a 24-hour clock is used.

• We do not use a.m. or p.m. in 24-lwur clock time.


• The 24-lwur clock notation is in the fonn of hh:mm.
• Midnight in 24 hour clock is denoted as 00:00 hours.
• 24:00 hours refers to midnight of the next day.
Exampl e:
a. 8:45 c1 .m. is expressed as 08:45 hours.
b. 12 noon is expressed as 12:00 hours.
c. 12 midnight is expressed as 00:00 hours.

Example: Ayushree spends 515 minutes in school. How
many hours and minutes is that?

Multiply
• To convert years into days, multiply the number of years by 365.
{1 year = 365 days}
• To convert months into days, multiply the number of months by 30.
{1 month= 30 days}
• To convert weeks into days, multiply the number of weeks by 7.
{1 week = 7 days}
