Fruit Farming
The fruit exports of the country recorded a growth of 17.7% in 2021 reaching USD 492 million.
Citrus and Mangoes are the most exported fruits in the country accounting for over 60% of the total
fruit exports of Pakistan.
Mango
Mango trees are visible in all parts of the Pakistan. But commercial farming is done in Sindh and
Punjab.
- Pakistan produces 8.5% of world’s mangoes.
- Being the 3rd largest producer, its export is progressing and resulting in substantial foreign
exchange earnings.
- Pakistani Mangoes Sindhri, Chaunsa, Dehseri, Langra have high demand all over the world
because of its quality.
- However mango plant and fruit is affected by a variety of insect pests and diseases, which require
intensive care to produce healthy and good quality fruit.
- Mango growing areas in Pakistan: Multan, Bahawalpur, Muzaffargarh, Khanewal, Sahiwal,
Sadiqabad, Vehari, and Rahim Yar Khan. Mirpur Khas, Hyderabad and Thatta. Dera Ismail Khan,
Peshawar and Mardan.
Citrus
Pakistan is the top 10th producing country of Citrus.
95 percent of the total Kinnow produced all over the world is grown in Pakistan, which makes it first
on the list.
Diseases
Aphids:
These are small brown colored insects. They suck the sap from the leaves and branches and cause
great damage to trees and reduction of yield.

This also attacks fresh leaves.
Apple
Pakistan is the world's 24th largest country in apple and 34th largest by the area for apple
production. Balochistan is the largest apple-producing province, followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,
contributing 25% of Pakistan's total apple production
The prime quality apples come from the highlands at altitudes above 2,000m because of the greater
number of chilling hours. Currently, apples are mainly produced in the valleys of Kalat, Killa
Saifullah, Loralai, Mastung, Pishin, Quetta, and Ziarat. Swat, Waziristan.
After Baluchistan and KPK, Punjab province also contributes in Apple’s production as its upper part
Potohar and Muree also produce Apples. Azad Kashmir.
Dates
Pakistan is the 5th-largest producer of dates in the world.
There are more than 160 varieties of date palms in the Pakistan, among them the popular varieties
are:
o Aseel of Khairpur,
o Dhakki of D.I.Khan
o Begum Jangi of Mekran.
Dates
Most of the Dates produced in Pakistan are cultivated in Balochistan and Sindh provinces. Major
Dates producing areas in the country are Turbat, Panjgur, Gwadar, Khairpur. In KPk, D.I. Khan and
Waziristan are known Dates production.

Apricots
In Pakistan, apricot is being grown in the uplands of Baluchistan province, Parachinar, Hangu,
Chitral, Swat, Hazara and Diamer districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Potohar and Murree Hills in
Punjab, northern Kashmir and Gilgit, Chilas and Baltistan.
