Salary Inequalities at Candid Manufacturing

S. L. Joshi was trying to figure out what to do about a problem salary situation he had in his plant. Joshi
recently took over as president of Candid Manufacturing. The founder and former president, Ashok
Reddy, had been president for 35 years, The company was family owned and located in the eastern
suburban area of Dhaka city. It had approximately 250 employees and was one of the largest employers
in that community. Joshi was a member of the family that owned Candid, but he had never worked for
