RECAP
Guide Questions:
1. How did you construct your statement?
2. What is the hypothesis? Conclusion?
3. Describe the picture in complete sentence without
using the if-then statement.
4. Can you identify the hypothesis and conclusion
In your sentence in item #3?
5. Can you convert your sentence to if-then statement?
LESSON
There are conditional statements that are not written in the if-then form. But you
can still rewrite them using this form.
Consider the statements below:
1. Summer time is swimming time.
2. An 18 year old Filipino can cast his/her vote during election.
3. Covid-19 stopped us in going out for leisure.
4. Perpendicular lines are intersecting lines.
5. Three non-collinear points determine a plane.
What part of the sentence are the underlined words? In bold letters?
The underlined words are the predicate and those in bold letters are the
subject of the sentences. The subject of the sentence is the hypothesis of the
conditional, and the predicate of the sentence is the conclusion of the conditional.
Let us transform the above sentences to if-then form.
1. Summer time is swimming time.
If-then form: If it is summer time, then it is swimming time.
Hypothesis: It is summer time.
Conclusion: It is swimming time.
