Rediscovering Balance

After much contemplation, Maria realized that she didn’t have to sacrifice her roots
for success. She could be both a modern Filipino woman and someone deeply
connected to her family’s values. She began to find ways to integrate her work
with her love for the traditions of her homeland.

Maria started by volunteering at the local community center, teaching young


children about Filipino history and culture. She shared her grandmother’s stories
with them, explaining the importance of family, unity, and respect for elders. She
also began to reconnect with her roots in other ways—by planting a small garden
in her apartment, cooking traditional Filipino dishes, and incorporating Filipino
customs into her daily life.
