Excel Charts Activity Instructions
1. Create a chart.
1. Select the range containing all the sales data and headings. Do not include the
totals. Select [ A3:D8 ]
2. Insert a Clustered Column chart. [ At the bottom right corner of D8, the Quick
analysis tool pops up. Click on the Charts section. Select Clustered Column ]
3. Add the chart title Sandwich Sales above the chart. [ Click on the Chart Title
placeholder, delete Chart title, and type Sandwich Sales ]
2. Move a chart.
1. Move the chart to a new worksheet that you name Sales Chart. [Chart design tab,
Location group, Move chart button, in the dialogue box, select New Sheet, then
type Sales Chart in textbox ]
3. Add a solid line border to the chart title, using the default color. [right-click on
chart title, click on Format Chart title in the short-cut menu, in the Navigation
pane under the Title Options group, select Border, click on Solid line ]
4. Add a data table to the chart with legend keys. [click on Chart elements button,
click on the arrow facing to the right next to data table, click on With Legend
keys]
5. Format a chart.
1. Use the Chart Format tab to change the shape fill of the January data series to
Olive Green, Accent 3. [click to select only the January data series, chart format
tab, under shape styles groups, click on Shape fill, select Olive Green Accent 3 ]
● Add linear trendlines to the February data series. [Select only February data series,
right-click on any of the February data series, select Add Trendline in the shortcut
menu, in the navigation pane under Trendline Options section, select Linear ]
● Change the width of the trendline to 3. [right-click on the trendline itself, click on
Format trendline in the shortcut menu, click on the bucket option, specify Width
as 3pt ]
● Save the workbook and close it.
