Excel Module 4 Instruction File

1. Create a chart.
1. Select the range containing all the sales data and headings. Do not include the
totals. Select [ A3:D8 ]
2. Insert a Clustered Column chart. [ At the bottom right corner of D8, the Quick
analysis tool pops up. Click on the Charts section. Select Clustered Column ]
3. Add the chart title Sandwich Sales above the chart. [ Click on the Chart Title
placeholder, delete Chart title, and type Sandwich Sales ]

2. Move a chart.
1. Move the chart to a new worksheet that you name Sales Chart. [Chart design tab,
Location group, Move chart button, in the dialogue box, select New Sheet, then
type Sales Chart in textbox ]

3. Change the chart design.


1. Switch to the ‘Q1 Sales’ worksheet, then change the value in cell B4 to 5000.
Switch to the Sales chart’ worksheet and verify that the value for the Parm
Ham for January is R 5000.
2. Select the chart if necessary. Use the Change Chart Type button on the ‘Chart
Design’ tab under the Type group to change the chart to a Clustered Bar chart,
then change it back to a Clustered Column chart.
3. Apply Chart Style 6 to the chart. [Chart design tab, style group, style 6 ]

4. Change the chart layout.


1. Use the Chart Elements button to remove the gridlines in the chart. [click on Chart
elements button (green plus sign at top right corner of chart), click to deselect
checkbox next to Gridlines ]
2. Insert ‘Sales’ as the vertical axis title, and ‘Sandwich type’ as the horizontal axis
title. [ Select your chart, Click on the Chart Elements button, which is the
Green plus sign on the Top right corner of your chart. Then you will click
on the Axis Titles checkbox to add axis titles. Then your Vertical Axis title
name should be ‘Sales’. And your Horizontal Axis title name should be
‘Sandwich type ]’

3. Add a solid line border to the chart title, using the default color. [right-click on
chart title, click on Format Chart title in the short-cut menu, in the Navigation
pane under the Title Options group, select Border, click on Solid line ]
4. Add a data table to the chart with legend keys. [click on Chart elements button,
click on the arrow facing to the right next to data table, click on With Legend
keys]

5. Format a chart.
1. Use the Chart Format tab to change the shape fill of the January data series to
Olive Green, Accent 3. [click to select only the January data series, chart format
tab, under shape styles groups, click on Shape fill, select Olive Green Accent 3 ]

6. Create a pie chart.


● Switch to the ‘Q1 Sales’ worksheet, then select the range A4:A8 and E4:E8. [ select
range A4:A8, press and hold CONTROL button on keyboard, select range E4:E8,
then let go of button ]
● Create a 2-D pie chart and move the chart beneath the worksheet data so its upper-left
corner is in the upper left corner of A11 [Insert tab, under Charts group, Pie Charts, 2-
D pie chart] [ Click and drag chart to A11]
● Widen the chart so it extends to the right edge of column E. [Click and drag it to edge
of Column E ]
● Add data callout labels. [Chart elements button(green plus sign), click on arrow facing
to the right for Data labels, select Data Callout]
● Change the chart title to Q1 Sales. [click on Chart title placeholder and type Q1 Sales.
● Explode the Kota slice from the pie chart by 20%. [click 3 times on Kota slice only
until selected, right-click on it and select Format Data point, in the navigation pane
under the Series Options section, use the Point Explosion to explode chart by 20% ]

8. Identify data trends.


● Switch to the Sales Chart sheet.

● Add linear trendlines to the February data series. [Select only February data series,
right-click on any of the February data series, select Add Trendline in the shortcut
menu, in the navigation pane under Trendline Options section, select Linear ]
● Change the width of the trendline to 3. [right-click on the trendline itself, click on
Format trendline in the shortcut menu, click on the bucket option, specify Width
as 3pt ]
● Save the workbook and close it.
