RE : CVNHSAA 2019 INTRAMURALS GENERAL GUIDELINES

CVNHSAA 2019 Intramurals


The CVNHSAA intramural meet will be the culmination of the year-round practice and training of
athletes under respective sports clubs. It will be played ONLY by the regular athletes of different sports clubs.
ALL STUDENTS interested in sports are advised to enroll themselves in one of these clubs – Basketball club (boys
& girls), Volleyball club (boys & girls), Badminton Club (boys & girls), Futsal/football (boys & girls), Chess club
(boys & girls), Athletics/track and field (boys & girls), taekwondo club (boys and girls), sepak takraw club (boys &
girls),etc. – for them to be permitted to play in the CVNHSAA intramurals. No students shall be permitted to play
in the intramurals without the consent of the head coach in each event.
CVNHS administration announces the holding of the CVNHSAA 2019 Intramurals on August 19-21, 2019
with the theme “Sports: A way to a Healthy Mind and Sound Body”.
Opening ceremonies will be held on August 19, 2019 at the CVNHS Grounds. The games will immediately
start after the program.

I. ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
The CVNHSAA INTRAMURALS 2019 shall be governed by the following in the sincerest possible way
and based on the observance of the true sportsmanship, fairness and camaraderie.

II. UNIT COMPOSITION
1. Division of Units shall still be based on grade levels.
1.1 Subject teachers and advisers including the athletes and students of grade 7 AND 10 shall be
unit I.
1.2 Subject teachers and advisers including the athletes and students of grade 8 AND 9 shall be unit
II.
2. Each unit shall have one (1) Unit Manager and ONE (1) COACH in each sports event.
III. COACHES AND OFFICIALS
1. Number of Coaches
Each event in the CVNHSAA shall have one coach only.
2. Duties and assignments of COACHES
2.1 Secure athletes’ documents necessary in checking their eligibility.
2.2 Train athletes to develop their potentials on sports BEFORE and AFTER the CVNHSAA
INTRAMURALS.
2.3 As a coach and tournament manager/tournament coordinator, select the best athletes to
compete in the next higher tournament in the truest spirit of fairness and sportsmanship.
2.4 Represent in the next higher tournament as coach of the winner athletes during the CVNHSAA
intramurals
2.5 Observe legal and ethical responsibilities of a coach listed below AS ADAPTED FROM THE
COACHING YOUTH SPORTS WEB SITE (Stratton, 1999):
2.5.1 Conducting practices and games in a safe physical environment
2.5.2 use of current knowledge of proper skills and methods of instruction
2.5.3 use of safe and appropriate equipment
2.5.4 proper short- and long-term planning
2.5.5 proper matching of athletes in practices and games by size, experience and ability
2.5.6 provision of adequate supervision of athletes
2.5.7 provide warnings to parents and athletes of risks inherent in sport participation
2.5.8 sensitivity to the health and well-being of athletes under a coach’s care
2.5.9 provision of appropriate emergency care;
AND FROM (Osmundson, 2001):
2.5.10 prevent harassment and discrimination by coaching staff and athletes
2.5.11 report suspected child abuse to proper authorities
2.5.12 respect and protect the confidentiality of student personal records
2.5.13 report breaches of ethical behavior by colleagues
IV. OFFICIATING OFFICIALS
IV.1 CVNHS TEACHERS AND STAFF shall be given priority to officiate in the CVNHSAA 2019
Intramurals, however, personnel outside CVNHS family or CVNHS Students may be tapped
whenever needed.
IV.2 Officiating officials shall be briefed by the tournament managers and coordinators with regards
the rules governing each sports event.
IV.3 Grade 12 students who are no longer eligible to play in the games may be tapped to officiate in
the games.
V. ELIGIBILITY OF ATHLETES
1. Athletes’ eligibility will be based on DepEd’s eligibility guidelines and CVNHSAA 2019 general
guidelines.

Athletes should be:


2.1. Bona fide student of CVNHS S.Y.: 2019-2020
2.2. Member of the specified sports club he/she is trying compete in.
VI. INTERNATIONAL RULES AND GROUND RULES
1. The International Rules and Regulations of the different sports events shall govern the conduct of
the CVNHSAA Intramurals, however, international rules amended by the “Ground Rules” shall be
adapted to suit local conditions Ground rules supersede international rules.
2. Ground rules shall be agreed upon by the coaches and tournament managers during the meeting of
coaches and technical officials. The coaches and tournament managers concerned must affix their
signature on the aforesaid documents and submit the same to the General Manager or Athletic
Manager for approval.
VII. DEFAULTING TIME AND FORFEITURE
1. Defaulting time is fifteen (10) minutes.
VIII. CODE OF CONDUCT AND PROTEST
1. Officials and coaches who fail to observe the code of conduct and proper decorum shall be dealt
with accordingly.
2. All unsportsmanlike conduct of coaches/chaperons/trainers and athletes are grounds for
suspension. Furthermore, supporters of the team concerned who are unruly during the games of
that particular team shall be sent out of the playing area.
3. Protest on technicalities arising from the games shall be resolved in the following manners:
3.1 The tournament manager concerned is empowered to conduct an on the spot investigation and
decide immediately on any protest as not to disrupt the progress of the games.
3.2 If the protesting party is not satisfied with the decision of the tournament manager, a formal
protest, signed by the coach concerned and noted by the head of the delegation, may be filed
with the Jury of Appeals not later than 12 hours after the incident. The decision of the jury is
final.
3.3 When a violation on eligibility rules is proven in team compositions, the games in which the
individual has taken part shall be declared forfeited in favor of the opposing team. The
individual performance, in case of the individual events, shall be nullified.
IX. DECLARATION OF OVERALL CHAMPION
1. The Medal Count System will be used in declaring the Overall Champion. Team sports shall have 12
medals and the individual sports shall have 1.
2. The team garnering the most number of gold medals shall be declared team champion. In case of
tie, the silver medals will be the basis and if there is still a tie the bronze medal will break the tie. If
the “tie” still exists, there will be 2 overall champions.
X. AWARDING OF MEDALS, TROPHIES AND CERTIFICATES OF RECOGNITION AND PARTICIPATION
1. Recorders shall receive official result of every finished game for announcement.
2. Tournament managers and coordinators shall submit a copy of the official and final result of the
tournament to the athletic manager and the awards and prizes committee right after the
tournament is finished for the awarding ceremonies.
3. First placers athletes shall be awarded gold medals; second placers shall be awarded silver medals;
and the third with bronze medals.
4. First to third placers in the overall ranking shall be awarded with trophies.
5. TOURNAMENT MANAGERS may also give due recognition to special performances of the athletes in
the different sports events through the issuance of CERTIFICATE OF RECOGNITION. This award shall
be given during the awarding Ceremonies.

6. Awarding shall be done in the venues of the events after the tournament has ended.

XI. SELECTION OF ATHLETES and COACHES TO COMPETE IN THE NEXT HIGHER TOURNAMENT
1. The selection of athletes in the next level of competitions shall be based on the individual
performance of the athletes and the need of the team.
2. The selection of athletes to compose the CVNHSAA delegation to the next higher tournament
shall be decided by the coach, tournament manager and the athletic manager based on the
individual performance of the athletes and the need of the team.
3. The tournament manager of the each event shall automatically be the coach to represent the
team in the next higher tournament unless he/she waives the said opportunity.
4. The winning coaches shall be the assistant coaches for the event in the next higher tournament.
5. The tournament manager shall inform the athletic manager of whatever decisions are made
with regards this matter.
XII. REPORT ON THE CONDUCT OF CVNHSAA MEET
The Tournament Managers shall prepare a narrative report on the conduct of their respective sport
events. Likewise, the Documentation and Evaluation Committee shall prepare the overall report on
the proceedings of the CVNHSAA 2019 Intramurals for submission to the Office of the Principal.
