Q. 4. (A)

Q. 4. (B)
(1) Roadways and main ports are seen on the map.
(2) In Southern Part of India especially in Tamil Nadu, the density of the roadways
is more.
(3) Names of the ports on the eastern coast are : Chennai, Vishakhapatnam, Kolkata,
etc.
(4) North – South highway connects Srinagar and Kanyakumari.
(5) Western Ghats, North East and Mountains towards North of India have a sparse
network of transport.

Q. 5.
(1) (1)  In India, the percentage of working people (young people) in population is greater
than non-working population.
(2) In India, the percentage of working people in population is nearly 51 per cent.
(3) In India, the percentage of non-working population (children and senior citizens)
is lesser than working population. Therefore, India is looked upon as a young
country.

(2) (1) Insects are mostly found in forests, grasslands and swampy lands.
(2) Many insects eat leaves, grass and nectar from the plant.
(3) The evergreen rainforests are seen in the northern parts of Brazil. The grasslands
are found in the central parts and Paraguay – Parana river basin. Similarly,
swampy lands are found in Pantanal region in Brazil. Therefore, a wide variety
of species of insects is found in Brazil.

(3) (1)
The convectional rainfall is prevalent in equatorial regions. In the areas near
equator, the warm air rises up and expands. This air reaches at a cooler layer
and saturates, then condenses mainly in the form of clouds.
(2) In the equatorial regions, the precipitation due to convectional rainfall occurs in
the afternoon. The equator passes from the northern part of Brazil. Almost every
day, the northern part of Brazil receives the rainfall of very short duration but in
the form of heavy showers.
(3)
The location of India is not near the equator. Therefore, convectional type of
rainfall is not prominent in India.

(4) (1) The amount of annual average rainfall in the Amazon basin in the northern region
near equator in Brazil is nearly 2000 mm. The annual average temperature in
this region is found to be nearly 28°C.
(2) Evergreen rainforest moist and dense forests are seen in the Amazon river basin.
Due to heavy rainfall, hot and humid climate and dense forests the Amazon
basin had become inaccessible.
(3) The transportation facilities are poorly developed in this region. Therefore, the
density of population is sparse in the Amazon basin.

Q. 6. (A)  Multiple Line Graph :

(1) India has highest contribution of trade in GDP.

(2) The contribution of trade in GDP of India in the year 2016 is 40%.
(3) The contribution of trade in GDP of Brazil in the year 1980 is 20%.

OR
Q. 6. (B)
(1) In 1961, the urbanization was 18%.
(2) Urbanization was the highest in the decade 1971 to 1981.
(3) Urbanization growth was lowest in the decade 1961 to 1971.
(4) Seeing the trend of the line graph, we can say that urbanization has increased
after the decade of 1971.
(5) In the year 1991, the percentage of urbanization was 25.7%.
(6) In the year 1971 in India, the percentage of urbanization was 18.2%.
Q. 7.
(1) (A) We will take the following items with us for field visit :
(1) Notebook, pen, pencil, scale, camera, etc. to collect information.
(2) Compass for knowing directions and maps for understanding various locations.
(3) Questionnaire as per the purpose of field visit.
(4) Containers or bags for collecting samples of water / soil / rocks / plants / crops, etc.
Also a cap, a bottle of drinking water, first aid box, etc.

(B) We will take care of the following when we visit a seashore :

(1) While going for a field visit to a seashore we will confirm the timings of high and
low tides.
(2) We will take a local guide while visiting a seashore or a mountainous region. We
will not go to an unknown place.
(3) We will avoid taking a selfie near risky areas like sea cliffs or any other places
in the deep sea.
(4) We will not enter into deep sea for swimming.
(5) We will keep the seashore clean. We will not litter.
(6) We will follow all the instructions given by our teacher and written on the boards
near the seashore.

(2) The characteristics of the Western Ghats are as follows :

(1) The Western Ghats is a mountain range that runs north to south parallel to the
Western Coast of the Indian peninsula.

(2) It demarcates the western side of Deccan plateau. Many peninsular rivers like
Godavari, Krishna, Kaveri have their source in Western Ghats.

(3)
The Western Ghats is not a single mountain like a wall. It includes series of
ranges. At some places, it has regions of very low altitude too.

(4) The Western Ghats separate the westward flowing rivers meeting to Arabian Sea
from the eastward flowing rivers meeting the Bay of Bengal.

(3) (1) Proximity to equator, Brazilian Highlands, the Great Escarpment are the main
factors affecting climate of Brazil.

(2) Due to proximity to equator, the temperatures in the northern part of Brazil is

comparatively higher. On the other hand, the temperatures in the southern part
of Brazil is comparatively lower.

(3) The average temperature in the Amazon river basin in the northern part near
equator is 25°C to 28°C. The overall climate in this region is found to be hot,
humid and unhealthy.

(4) The amount of annual average rainfall in Amazon river valley is nearly 2000 mm.
The amount of annual average rainfall is nearly 1000 mm to 1200 mm in the
southeast coastal region.

(5)
The temperature is comparatively low in the Brazilian highlands. Brazilian
highlands receives moderate amount of rainfall, i.e. nearly 600 mm to 1200 mm.

(6)
The great Escarpment and the Brazilian Highlands obstruct the trade winds
blowing from the southeast and the northeast directions. This leads to heavy
rainfall in the windward sides of the Great Escarpment, i.e. in the eastern coastal
region of Brazil.

(7) The winds blowing beyond the Highlands become dry and therefore it rains less
to the leeward side of the Great Escarpment and the Brazilian Highlands.

(8)
As its effect, the northeast part of Brazil receives the minimum rainfall. The
temperature is also found to be high in this region. This region is a rain shadow
region. It is known as ‘Drought Quadrilateral’.
