Jointing Techniques
Procedure
In Butt Welding, fusion areas (ends of pipes or fittings) are heated under controlled pressure.
a) Cleaning of Pipes, Tools & Heating plates.
b) Clamp & Adjust the pipe or piping part.
c) Assemble the clamp & the same time check alignment of pipe.
d) Set & ensure heating plate temperature at 200˚ to 220˚C. Position the heating plate in butt
welding machine, after attaining fusion temperature.
e) Pipe or fitting surfaces to be pressed against the heating element with the required force
until entire circumference of each of the joining faces rests completely against it & a bead
is formed.
f) Push the heated pipe ends together after heating immediately with pressure to form joint.
g) Allow pipes with joints to be cooled for some time.
