preferences is imperative for businesses to thrive. This executive summary
presents the findings of a comprehensive research project that aims to compare
customer satisfaction and preferences between two prominent players in the pizza
industry: Domino's Pizza and La Pinoz.

This research project aims to analyze and compare customer satisfaction and
preferences between Domino's Pizza and La Pinoz, two prominent players in the

1.1 INTRODUCTION TO FAST FOOD INDUSTRY

Fast food is a type of mass-produced food designed for commercial
resale, with a strong priority placed on speed of service. It is a
commercial term, limited to food sold in a restaurant or store with frozen,
preheated or precooked ingredients and served in packaging for take-
out/takeaway. Fast food was created as a commercial strategy to
accommodate large numbers of busy commuters, travellers and wage
workers. In 2018, the fast food industry was worth an estimated $570
billion globally.

The fastest form of "fast food" consists of pre-cooked meals which reduce
waiting periods to mere seconds. Fast food restaurants typically offer a
limited menu of popular items that can be prepared and served quickly.
This industry has grown significantly over the past few decades, with
major players such as:-

 McDonald's
 Burger King
 KFC
 Domino’s Pizza
 Pizza Hut
 La Pinoz Pizza

Fast food restaurants are known for their standardized menu items,
efficient service, and affordable prices. They often use techniques such
as drive-thru, delivery services, and mobile ordering apps to cater to

also faced criticism for its high levels of unhealthy ingredients,
environmental impact, and labor practices. Despite these challenges, the
fast food industry continues to be a major player in the global food

1.2 OVERVIEW OF DOMINO’S PIZZA

Domino's Pizza is a well-known American pizza restaurant chain that


specializes in delivery and takeout services. Founded in 1960, Domino's
has grown to become one of the largest pizza chains in the world, with
thousands of locations in over 90 countries. This chain is owned by
master franchisor Domino's Pizza, Inc. and led by CEO Russell Weiner.
The corporation is Delaware-domiciled and headquartered at the
Domino's Farms Office Park in Ann Arbor Township, near Ann Arbor,
Michigan.

Domino's is known for its signature menu items such as:-

1.4 HISTORY OF DOMINO’S PIZZA

The history of Domino’s Pizza begins in 1960 when Tom Monaghan and
his brother James took over a small pizzeria called DomiNick’s in
Ypsilanti, Michigan. The brothers renamed the restaurant Domino’s Pizza
and began to develop a unique business model that would revolutionize
the pizza industry.

Tom Monaghan purchased his brother’s share of the business for $500 in
1961 and by 1965 he had expanded the company to three locations.
However, it wasn’t until 1967 that Domino’s truly began to take off.
Monaghan bought out his partner and started franchising the business,
allowing others to open their own Domino’s Pizza locations.

Domino’s became known for its innovative approach to pizza delivery. In


the early days, Domino’s promised to deliver pizzas in 30 minutes or less,

The story of India’s fastest growing pizza place started back in 2011 when
Sanam Kapoor opened his very first pizzeria in his hometown
Chandigarh. Inspired by his own search for delicious pizza options, he
started to wonder if there was a better way of doing pizza – and business.
The last thing in the world needed was another pizzeria, but maybe this
one could be different and everyone could get exactly what they wanted,
made fresh on demand, it all started sounding pretty great, and soon
Sanam was opening the first La Pino’z in his hometown Chandigarh and

non-veg main and side dishes.

In all the stores globally opened by the company, one common thing is
that Domino’s Pizza is the main dish. Custom, specialty, and traditional
Domino pizzas are available in different toppings and crust styles to
attract customers of individual tastes.

Domino’s Pizza has kept its menu simple to ensure smooth and fresh
Pizza for delivery by the delivery boys. The brand tapped the trend for
bite-size foods by introducing spicy Buffalo Chicken Kickers. Domino’s

The company maintains product quality, but its service with the pizza
tracker is also prompt. As soon as you order Pizza, the time starts ticking.
The customer wait period is thirty minutes, and the pizza tracker is on.
The delivery boys must deliver the Pizza within the allotted time;
otherwise, the company must compensate them with special discounts or
free Pizza in the next delivery.

Domino’s restaurant chain, renamed Domino’s Pizza Inc., has spread its
product presence to nearly 90+ different countries. The place strategy in
Domino’s Pizza’s marketing mix distribution strategy is based on the
franchise model, where 97% of the outlets are franchise-owned.

Dominos opened its outlets in the United States, India, Australia, France,
Sweden, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Turkey, and the United Kingdom.

Found that people decide to choose fast food restaurant because they
like the taste and prefer instant satisfaction of their taste buds. Fast food
restaurant include a wide range of quick and fast service, brands and take
only short period to serve it. Consumer make their choice of brands in
multi brand situation is one of least understood yet important
phenomenon in the marketing of Quick Service Restaurant - Fast Food
Restaurant.

French SA et al, (2001)

Pointed out that visiting fast food restaurant is to spent time with family
and friends Schlosser E. (2001) pointed out the most frequently reported
reasons for eating at fast-food restaurants were fast food is quickly
served.

They found that demographic factors such as age, income, education and
gender highly influence consumer behaviour towards fast food
restaurants.

Kotler and Keller (2006)

Defined satisfaction as a person & feeling of pleasure or disappointment


which resulted from comparing a product & perceived performance or
Outcome against his/ her expectations.

According to Zairi (2000)

The feeling of pleasure and expectation fulfilment is known as


Satisfaction. If the product cannot satisfy customer feelings they will be
dissatisfied, and if product satisfies them after the use customer will be
satisfied and become loyal to that product or brand. In other words
customer satisfaction is about those goods or services which fulfil the
customer expectation in terms of quality and service for which he has
paid. If Customer satisfaction develops they will become loyal to that
product or brand and their loyalty will be good for the company in sense
as a Profit. Customer satisfaction is the part of marketing and play
important role in the market. In any organization satisfaction of customer
is more important, because if your customer is satisfied with your services
or products, your position will be good in the market.

Measuring customer satisfaction in the fast food industry: A cross
national approach Gilbert, G.R., Veloutsou, C., Goode, and
Moutinho, L. (2004)

The study reveals the unique relationship between the nationality and the
determinants of customer satisfaction. The study further establishes the
linkage of customer satisfaction to cultural factors, thus paving way to the
cross cultural comparison of service satisfaction at four different countries
essentially speaking English but differing in cultures. The study elicits the
fact that customer satisfaction in the context of fast food retailing is of two
fold; satisfaction with service setting and satisfaction with personal
service.

The researcher’s efforts would certainly benefit the retailers in assessing


their own services and brands across nations and thus devise an effective
retail mix.

Perception about the Attributes of Selected Fast Food Retailers and


their Impact on Consumer Satisfaction and Sales Author: Rahul
Bhardwaj Vol. -1 No. - 2, Jan-2011

The present study successfully measures the links between attribute


perceptions and consumer satisfaction, and between consumer
satisfaction and sales performance, in the food retail sector of India. The
study based on an extensive data set of consumer 17 satisfaction and
sales information from approximately 180 consumers. The study
addresses the inherent non linearity and asymmetries in these links.

Further, an example of how firms can use the estimated linkages to
develop satisfaction policies that are predicted to increase store revenues
has been presented. First non-linearity and asymmetries in the
satisfaction-sales performance have been examined. Second, the study
advances the measurement of behavioural links between consumer
satisfaction and performance in the food retail sector with firm-specific
data. Third, the study shows how firms can employ such results to
develop appropriate consumer satisfaction policies.

Sing Pratima (2015)

Conducted a study on the differences in consumer beliefs and attitudes


toward three fast food restaurants namely Domino’s, Pizza Hut and

McDonalds and found that customer attitude toward each fast food
restaurants differs in Gwalior region. In another study, Priyadharsini S.
(2014) exposed that because of the trend of nuclear family, raise in
income level, raise in employment level of women and advertising were
the strategies which leads Indian consumers to get attracted towards fast
food.

Veeck (1997) in her research “Changing tastes: purchase choice in


urban China”

has investigated food purchase behaviour on the basis of ten-month


period of field study in Nanjing, China wherein the adoption of time
related food purchase behaviour was studied including use of processed
food, restaurant use and frequency of food shopping trips. The objectives

of the study was to examine why and how food purchase choice changes
in rapidly growing economy. Food purchase behaviour are examined as
part of a “cultural ideology,” which, while influenced by material and social
needs, relies more on history, habit, inertia, and an aesthetic sensibility to
shape consumption patterns.

Nelson (1992) “A model of factors affecting consumer decision


making

regarding food products: a case study of USA and Japan” examined there
are many factors like values, eating habits, family structure, tastes and
preferences affecting consumer food choice decision making between
the countries and even within countries. Multiple regression model

has been developed using meet expenditure and cereal expenditure as


independent variables and age, average number of earners, female
participation as dependent variables. Results have indicated that age is
not a significant factor in predicting meat or cereal expenditure in the USA
.Average number of earners is not significant in predicting meat
expenditure in Japan, but was significant in cereal expenditures. Female
participation in labour force (US) was marginally significant in predicting
meat and cereal expenditures.

Cullen (1994) in his work, titled “Time, tastes and technology: the
economic evolution of eating out”

Interpreted that the increasing Americanisation of eating out has traced a
culture of fast food and snacking, giving more importance to convenience
and eating out behaviour. Christopher (1994) in his study, “A taste
of tomorrow’s food” has analysed the significance of fusion cuisines in the
times ahead.

Brain (2000) in his research work, titled “The taste of tomorrow:

Globalisation is coming home to dinner” has indicated that the food of


tomorrow will include international dishes and fusion cuisines, blending
many national cuisines. Kitchens will disappear from many homes in the
future and the concept of purchasing food, with no wish to cook food at all
will come. Alternative theories of globalization are examined to determine
how food choices are influenced by global forces.

3.1 MEANING OF RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

Research methodology is the specific procedures or techniques used to


identify, select, process, and analyse information about a topic. In a
research paper, the methodology section allows the reader to critically
evaluate a study’s overall validity and reliability. The methodology section
answers two main questions:-

 How was the data collected or generated?

 How was it analysed?

It is a process by which researchers design their study so that they can
achieve their objectives using the selected research instruments. It
includes all the important aspects of research, including research design,
data collection methods, data analysis methods, and the overall
framework within which the research is conducted. While these points can
help you understand what research methodology is, you also need to
know why it is important to pick the right methodology.

A research methodology is like a plan for carrying out research and helps
keep researchers on track by limiting the scope of the research. Several
aspects must be considered before selecting an appropriate research
methodology, such as research limitations and ethical concerns that may
affect your research.

The research methodology section in a scientific paper describes the


different methodological choices made, such as the data collection and

Analysis methods, and why these choices were selected. The reasons
should explain why the methods chosen are the most appropriate to

The scope of the study is limited to the Tricity. This study is mainly

by the consumer and on which factor.

For the purpose of this study, descriptive research is used, where the
data is collected by using both primary and secondary sources. This
study will help the pizza manufactures to learn about customer
satisfaction levels in terms of price, quality and other factors. As a result,
the findings will help the service providers to concentrate on these factors
in order to close consumer mentality gaps.

3.3 OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY:-

 To study customer satisfaction towards fast-food outlets (with


reference to Domino’s and La Pino’z). Analysing customer
preferences in terms of menu offerings, pricing, delivery services,
and overall experience at both pizza chains.

 Identify factors that influence brand loyalty of Domino's Pizza and La


Pino'z.

 Provide recommendations for enhancing customer satisfaction and


loyalty for both Domino's Pizza and La Pino'z based on the study
findings.

problem in all types of business sectors is determining market demand
and needs.

If keep consumer satisfaction, that will increase more loyal consumers. As


long as business companies need to pay more attention to what
consumers are thinking, what factors influence them negatively, what
factors we need to change. Consumer satisfaction is the part of marketing
and plays an important role in the market.

Moreover, for measuring customer satisfaction, this study was conducted


and to examine the relationship between customer satisfactions to price,
product quality, menu variety and many more are the key determinants of
consumer satisfaction and demands in the purchase of fast-food chain
industry. Also, companies that are working in Fast-Food chain industries
need to focus more on price, menu variety, employee behavior.

The purpose of this study was to compare customer satisfaction and


preferences between Domino's and La Pinoz. A survey was conducted
with 100 respondents, and the results showed that respondents prefer
Domino's more over La Pinoz. Domino's was rated higher than La Pinoz
in terms of taste, value for money, and customer service.

over La Pinoz. This is likely due to a number of factors, including
Domino's wider menu, more convenient ordering options, and better
