3 147
7 49
7 7
1
882 = 2 × 3 2 × 7 2

2. (b) coprime
Explanation:

We know that the co-prime numbers have no factor in common, or, their HCF is 1.
Thus, p2 and q2 have the same factor with exponent 2 each. which again will not have any common factor.
Thus we can conclude that p2 and q2 are co-prime numbers.

3. (b) 1 real root

Explanation:

Given: (x + 1)2 - x2 = 0
⇒ x2 + 1 + 2x - x2 = 0
⇒ 2x + 1 = 0
−1
⇒ x=
2
Therefore, (x + 1)2 - x2 = 0 is a linear polynomial and has one real root.

4. (d) 8 sq. units

In △ABC
∠ ABC = ∠ ACB (angle opp. to equal side of △)

also
∠A + ∠B + ∠C = 180 ∘
∠A + 42 + 42 ∘ = 180 ∘

∠ A = 180 ∘ − 84 ∘
∠A = 96 ∘
∠BAC = 96

∴ P (getting a prize) = 24
= 3

16. (c) 20
Explanation:

Arithmetic mean = 24
Mode = 12
∴ But mode, 12 = 3 median - 2 mean
⇒ 12 = 3 median - 2 × 24

⇒ 12 = 3 median - 48
⇒ 12 + 48 = 3 median
⇒ 3 median = 60

Median = 3
= 20

17. (a) 36 cm
Explanation:

Radius of a cylindrical vessel (r1) = 18 cm

and height (h1) = 32 cm
2
∴ Volume of sand filled in it = πr 1h 1
= π (18)2 × 32 = π × 324 × 32 cm3
= 10368π cm3
Now height of the conical heap (h2) = 24 cm
Let r2 be the its radius, then
1

3
πr 2h 2 = 10368π
1 2
⇒ πr 2 × 24 = 10368π

r2 = = 1296

∴ r2 = √1296 = 36
Hence radius of the base of the heap = 36 cm

18. (b) 60 - 80
Explanation:

Total frequencies (N) = 10 + 12 + 14 + 13 + 17

N 66
So, = = 33
2 2
c.f. Just greater than 33 is 36 and the corresponding class is 60 - 80
hence, median class = 60 - 80

19. (b) Both A and R are true but R is not the correct explanation of A.
Explanation:

We know that the mid-point of the line segment joining the points

( )
P x 1, y 1 and Q x 2, y 2 is ( ) ( x1 + x2 y1 + y2
2
, 2 )
So, the Reason is correct.
Given, the points A(4, 3) and B(x, 5) lie on a circle with center O(2, 3).
Then OA = OB ⇒ (OA)2 = (OB)2
⇒ (4−2)2 + (3 − 3)2 = (x − 2)2 + (5 − 3)2
⇒ (2)2+(0)2 = (x−2)2 + (2)2 ⇒ 4 = (x−2)2 + 4 ⇒ (x−2)2 = 0
x-2=0 ⇒ x=2

So Assertion is correct.
The correct option is Both A and R are true but R is not the correct explanation of A.

20. (c) A is true but R is false.

Explanation:

Here, reason is not true.

√9 = ± 3, which is not an irrational number.
A is true but R is false.

Hence, it is irrational.

27. The given quadratic polynomial is p(x) = 2x2 - 3x + p

Since, 3 is a root (zero) of p(x)
⇒ 2(3)2 - 3 × 3 + p = 0
⇒ 18 - 9 + p = 0
⇒ 9+p=0
⇒ p=-9
Now p(x) = 2x2 - 3x - 9
= 2x2- 6x + 3x - 9
= 2x (x - 3) + 3 (x - 3)
= (x - 3) (2x + 3)
For roots of polynomial, p(x) = 0
⇒ (x - 3) (2x + 3) = 0
3
⇒ x = 3 or x = -

Hence the other root is - .

Substituting this value in equation (ii), we obtain:

y

√2

y=0
Substituting the value of y in equation (iii), we obtain:
x=0
∴ x = 0, y = 0

Hence the solution of given equation is (0,0).

OR

Let the usual speed of the plane = x km/hr.

Distance to the destination = 1500 km
Case (i):
Distance Distance
we know that, Speed = Time
⇒ Time = speed
1500
So, in case(i) Time = Hrs
x
Case (iI)
Distance to the destination = 1500 km
Increased speed = 100 km/hr
So, speed = x+100
1500
So, in case(ii) Time = Hrs
x + 100
So, according to the question
1500 1500 30
∴ - =
x x + 100 60
⇒ x2 + 100x - 300000 = 0
⇒ x2 + 600x - 500x - 300000 = 0
⇒ (x + 600)(x - 500) = 0
⇒ x = 500 or x = -600
Since, speed can not be negative, x = 500
Therefore, Speed of plane = 500 km/hr.

∴ hypotenuse of triangle = 2x + 1 and base of triangle = 2x - 1.

Using Pythagoras theorem,

or, 4x 2 + 1 + 4x = x 2 + 4x 2 + 1 − 4x

either x = 0 or x - 8 = 0

33. Given: According to the question, PQR is a right triangle right angled at Q and QS ⏊ PR. PQ = 6 cm and PS = 4 cm
To find : Length of QS, RS and QR.

In ΔPQR, ∠PQR = 90
and QS ⏊ PR
So, △ PSQ ~ △ PQR (By AA similarity)
PS QS
Thus, QS
= SR
∴ QS2 = PS.SR..........(i)
In ∆PQS,
QS 2 = PQ 2 − PS 2[By Pythagoras theorem]
= 62 – 42 = 36 – 16
⇒ QS2 = 20
⇒ QS = 2√5 cm

Now QS2 = PS.SR [From eqn(i)]

⇒ (2√5) 2 = 4 × SR
20
⇒ = SR
4
⇒ SR = 5 cm

Now, QS ⊥ SR
∴ ∠QSR = 90°
⇒ QR2 = QS2 + SR2 [By Pythagoras theorem]
⇒ QR2 = (2√5) 2 + 52
⇒ QR2 = 20 +25
⇒ QR2 = 45
⇒ QR = 3√5 cm

Hence, QS = 2√5 cm, RS = 5 cm and QR = 3√5 cm.
