REFLECTION PAPER IN THE I, ROBOT

It made me wondered that maybe sooner or later robots, just like humans, would have
emotions and dreams. However, could it be possible in reality? Can robots that are
made of machines act, interact and feel the way humans do? The movie foreshadowed
the world with its 2035 future-based setting where people and robots are in the same
community, living and interacting like ordinary with robots as assistants and workers of,
and programmed to live and protect their human owners. In some countries nowadays,
robot developers are trying their best to create humanoids robots like Sophia the first
robot to receive citizenship and Erika - most beautiful robot. In Japan, a robot priest
exists. Indeed, with the help of these machines, human being benefits more for it makes
our work easier and convenient. At the beginning of the movie, three laws of robots
were shown. These laws were created for the robots to follow: (1) A robot may not
injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm; (2) A
robot must obey orders given it by human beings except where such orders would
conflict with the first law; (3) A robot must protect its own existence as long as such
protection does not conflict with the first or second law. However, these laws were
disobeyed by more human-like NS-5s which were under the control of Vikian artificial
intelligence. This event was envisioned by Dr. Lanning, the creator of robots, that leads
him to commit suicidal. For this reason, living with robots makes me scared and hate
them the same as Detective Del Spooner, a "robotophobic" homicide detective and the
one who studied the case of the doctor believing that he was murdered not by human
but by a robot. Through Spooner's investigation, he was able to uncover a larger threat
to humanity. This threat is what threaten humans now. According to Stephen Hawking,
a well-known cosmologist, "The development of full artificial intelligence could spell the
end of the human race" and it could be true that robot revolution will lead to human
extinction.
