CONDUCT COMPETENCY ASSESSMENT

I am now ready to perform Conduct Competency Assessment.

Step 1: Prayer

You may take your sit now.
Step 2: Introduction

I am ROSEMAE F. DIAMA from Kawayan National High School. I am an


accredited competency assessor in BREAD AND PASTRY PRODUCTION NC II.
TESDA Provincial Office designates me to conduct assessment in BREAD AND
PASTRY PRODUCTION NC II. With me is the TESDA representative
_____________________ and ACAC manager Mr./Ms. ____________.

You don’t have to worry about his/her presence. She/he is here to oversee
the competency assessment and to check if it is in accordance with the
prescribed competency assessment methodology and procedures. They will
not be the one to assess you.

Step 3: Attendance Sheet and Admission Slip

Today you are going to undergo full qualification level of competency


assessment in BPP NC II.

Before I start, let me check the attendance. Please come forward once your
name is called. And also present to me your admission slips and your any
valid ID once your name is called. (Let the candidate sign on the attendance
sheet, compare signature on the admission slip.)

Step 4: Self- assessment guide.

I have here with me your Accomplished Self-Assessment Guide which you


filled up. This is an indicator that you are indeed ready to perform the units
of competency enumerated in this qualification.

Step 5: Orientation

Alright, to put us all together at the right perspective there is a need for us to
have common understanding on the notions of assessment.
Assessment is a process of collecting evidence and making judgment on
whether or not the competency has been achieved.
The purposes of assessment are:
1. To certify that an individual has achieved competency;
2. To recruit and select candidates for a job;
3. To monitor individual performance at work;
4. To determine the training needs;
5. To conduct skills audit;
6. Recognize prior learning;
7. Classify a person against industry or Enterprise standard; and
8. Provide feedback progress during training.

I am going to administer competency assessment for BREAD AND


PASTR PRODUCTION NC II and it is composed of basic competency,
common competency and 5 core units of competencies, namely:

1. PREPARE AND PRODUCE BAKERY PRODUCTS


2. PREPARE AND PRODUCE PASTRY PRODUCT
3. PREPARE AND PRESENT GATAUX TORTES AND CAKES
4. PREPARE AND PRESENT PETITS FOUR
5. PRESENT DESSERT

The CORE units of this qualification are clustered to form one assessment
package for full qualification. Therefore, you have to be competent to all
units of competencies for you to become competent for the qualification.

In this assessment, you will be judged using both demonstration with oral
questioning and interview. It is expected that you can provide evidences on
the core units of competencies specified in competency standards, so within
4 hours you will be performing the competencies in:
1. PREPARE AND PRODUCE BAKERY PRODUCTS
2. PREPARE AND PRODUCE PASTRY PRODUCT
3. PREPARE AND PRESENT GATAUX TORTES AND CAKES
4. PREPARE AND PRESENT PETITS FOUR
5. PRESENT DESSERT

I will be observing while you are performing your tasks then after that I will
be asking you questions related to your performance and give feedback.

You will be given specific instructions to guide you in your tasks. You may
call me if you have questions or clarifications.

Now, I want you to relax so that you can think well because when you’re
nervous you cannot perform well.

The main purpose of assessment is to determine how well you perform the
unit of competency as indicated in the training regulations.

You don’t need to compete with one another rather you have to test yourself
whether you meet the standard as prescribed in the Training Regulations.
Once found competent, you will be issued with NC II certificate. Hence, the
impact of being and NC holder is already a lifetime indelible mark place in
you and that you can use it in seeking employment as your credential.

In the same manner as an Assessor, I must observe transparency in


recording, adhere to quality system, observe confidentiality in the records
and must have integrity in doing such.

I would like also to inform you that you have to observe health and safety
precautions while performing the different tasks.

If you have some question or clarifications or if there is a need for me to


translate any instructions into your own dialect, I would be willing to
entertain it.

If you need assistance, just raise your hand and I will be willing to assist you.

Let me remind you not to disturb your co-candidate and you are not allowed
to go out the assessment centre when you already start performing the task.

Furthermore, after the assessment and decisions has been made, if you do
not agree with my decision as your assessor, you have the right to make an
appeal, by writing a letter of appeal right after of the assessment to the
ACAC Manager so that your appeal could be address to the TESDA Provincial
Director at TESDA Sibugay Provincial Office.

If found competent, you will be awarded with National Certificate of
competency signed by the TESDA Director General and it will be valid for 5
years. Upon expiration, it will be renewed upon your request and after
verification with the following requirements:
 Duly accomplished Application Form
 Original NC/COC
 3 passport size picture with white background
 Certificate of work and/or teaching experience for at least 12 months
during the validity period of the NC/COC in the relevant qualification
and duly signed by the employer and/or school administrator

On the other hand, if ever you will be declared NOT Yet Competent, you may
apply for reassessment anytime at your own convenience. In case of
assessment for a Full National Qualification, re-assessment shall be focused
only on the specific area/s where you have not satisfactorily achieved the
required level of competence and shall pay the full assessment fee based on
the list of fees promulgated by the TESDA Board that is Php 1700.00

However, if you fail the assessment for two consecutive times, you are
advised to go through a refresher course before taking another assessment.

Do you have any question or clarification before we will start the next step of
the assessment?

- If you need assistance, don’t hesitate to ask me.

- Before we start with the assessment proper, I will give you 5 mins. To do
your personal necessities so that you will not be disturb during the
assessment because I will not allow you to go out from the assessment
venue while you are doing your task.
- Don’t worry, just relax and think well so that can perform well your
assessment activity and good luck.

Now, I will assign numbers to each one of you. According to your attendance.

Step 6: Assessment Proper and Demonstration

 Instruct candidate #1 to enter the assessment room. (to be followed by


candidate #2, #3 and so on)

 Provide the candidate with all the materials, tools and equipment required to
complete the task.
 At this point, give specific instructions to the candidate clearly and slowly.

Using the materials, tools and equipment, you are required to perform the task
within 4 hours. I will be observing you while you are performing that TASK that I
have enumerated.

After your demonstration, I will ask you some questions related to your
demonstration.

You may call me when there is a need for me to translate or explain items for
clarification.

After the questioning portion, I will give you feedback about your performance.

Any questions/ clarification?

Before I forgot, please be reminded our safety precautions because we are dealing
electricity here and sharp edged that can harm you ok? If there no more questions,
you may start now. (the assessor sets the stop watch)

wait outside and I will just call you for your turn.

- My observation coincides with your opinion, you were able to answer all oral
questions correctly, that includes your written test result but there are areas of
improvement such as cable splicing. Overall I now declare you Competent.
Congratulations!
- Please sign the CARS and your rating sheet. Since you are competent, the
TESDA will now email your NC II in your personal email account, just download
and print it.
- Congratulations for the job well done!
- So since, I declare you competent, do you agree my decision? Very good.

- Mr./Ms._________, How do you judge your performance during the assessment?
Given a scale of 1-10, 10 is the highest, how many points can you give yourself
based on your performance?
- As I observed, you perform well, but I noticed that you need some improvements
to meet the standard requirements of this qualification. You have to review the
activities related to the competency that you are weak and not doing well your
task as a trainee. Is it okay to you? But please don’t lose hope because anytime
at your convenience you can file for reassessment for the competency you are
lacking of, for now you have COC 1 & 2, still congratulations!

General Feed back

- As an assessor, there is a need for me to give you the result for this assessment
so that I will know whether you meet the competency standard or not. And it is
imperative that you will know the fields of competencies that you’re good at and
most important thing is to identify your weaknesses for us to allow you to focus
on those skills for your own improvement.

- OK, re-check your forms whether you filled it out properly and signed it. You may
ask some questions regarding the documents which you did not understand to
make sure that everything should be filled up correctly pertaining to your
assessment forms.

- OK, if you’re done, let me ask you something. Having been with you for the whole
day of assessment, do you have some suggestion on the process of assessment
which you think may help future candidates to be more relaxed and
comprehensive? If so, I will be happy to hear it from you better ways of assessing
candidates in the future. Thank you!

- I have to greet you once again. CONGRATULATIONS!


- For those who were declared not yet competent, I suggest that you have to
improve more on this following area of competency As soon as you think that you
are ready, feel free to submit yourself for reassessment. Please don’t lose hope.
