Introduction
Diversity is one of the main pillars in the construction of a nation's identity.
Indonesia, with all its cultural, religious, ethnic and linguistic diversity, makes
diversity the main capital in building unity amidst differences. The philosophy of
unity that is promoted not only respects differences, but also places them as an
enriching force.
In the context of social, national and state life, maintaining and fostering
diversity is not an easy matter. Existing differences often become a source of conflict
and polarization. Therefore, it is important for us to understand the philosophy of
unity that underlies this diversity, as well as concrete efforts to foster diversity as the
main basis for living together.
Indonesia is known as an archipelagic country that is rich in diversity. From
Sabang to Merauke, from Miangas to Rote, we can find various kinds of cultures,
traditions and customs. However, behind the beauty of this diversity, there are big
challenges in maintaining harmony and unity. One of the main challenges is the
existence of misunderstanding and stereotypes between ethnicities, religions and
cultures. This lack of understanding often becomes an opening for prejudice and
conflict between groups to emerge. Apart from that, political, economic and social
factors also influence the dynamics of this diversity.
In recent years, Indonesia has also witnessed increasing polarization of
opinion, especially on social media. This shows the need for concrete efforts to
strengthen diversity as a common foundation. Without a deep understanding of the
philosophy of unity behind diversity, the risk of conflict and division will always
lurk.
Therefore, this article aims to explore the philosophy of unity behind the
diversity of social, national and state life. Through a deeper understanding of this
philosophy, it is hoped that we can formulate concrete steps to foster diversity as the
main foundation for collective progress.

Research methods
The method used in this research is the literature review method. The
literature review method is an analysis activity in the form of criticism of research
that is being conducted on a special topic which is part of a scientific field. The
content of a literature review is in the form of an explanation or discussion of the
theory of a finding or research topic, which can be used as a theoretical basis in
creating scientific work or in carrying out research activities. A literature review can
be a development of previous research or it can also be research that is being
conducted for the first time. The literature used is journals, research reports, scientific
magazines, newspapers, relevant books, seminar results, as well as unpublished

Discussion
Various literature studies highlight different aspects, but all of them underline
the importance of understanding and strengthening diversity as an expression of the
philosophy of unity in living together in Indonesia. From research on citizenship
education, we understand that a curriculum that includes the philosophical values of
Pancasila is the foundation for forming law-abiding and civilized citizens.
Furthermore, a study on understanding the meaning of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika
illustrates how a positive attitude towards diversity can be formed through a deep
understanding of the national motto. This is also supported by research which
confirms that Bhinneka Tunggal Ika is a reflection of the balance between differences
as a characteristic of diversity and similarity as a characteristic of unity.
In terms of religious diversity, understanding the nature of national and state
life based on Pancasila is important in responding to potential conflicts that may arise
from religious differences. However, with empathy and a deep understanding of
diversity, we can use it as a force to strengthen diversity. Recent research reviewing
the concept of nationalism within the philosophical framework of Pancasila provides
additional insight into how a balanced view of local and global culture can form a
national character that is critical but also inclusive of diversity.
By integrating the findings from various literature studies, we can understand
that fostering diversity is not just tolerance for differences, but is also a reflection of
the philosophy of unity which is the main foundation in social, national and state life
in Indonesia.

How to Cultivate Diversity as a Form of the Unitary Philosophy Behind the

Diversity of Community, National and State Life

To foster diversity as a form of the philosophy of unity behind the diversity of social,
national and state life, there are several efforts that can be made:
1. Know each other
Recognizing and understanding differences between citizens, ethnicities,
religions and cultures can be the foundation for fostering mutual respect and
tolerance.
2. Tolerance
Respect differences and ensure that each individual can carry out their
customs and traditions without fear or interference from others. This includes
tolerance for religion, culture and customs.
3. Empathy
Developing empathy for the differences and experiences of others can help in
building harmonious and respectful relationships between citizens.
4. Education
Integrating the values of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika in education can help future
generations to understand and appreciate diversity as a source of national
strength. This includes teaching about different religions, cultures, languages,
and customs.
5. Practicing Pancasila
Applying Pancasila principles in everyday life, such as respecting diversity,
reaching consensus in deliberations, and developing noble actions, can be an
effective way to foster unity amidst diversity.
6. Tolerance in Differences
Cultivating an attitude of tolerance in dealing with differences can be the key
to creating an environment of harmony and respect between individuals.

By implementing these efforts, society can maintain and strengthen diversity

as a source of strength and unity, in line with the philosophy of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika
which is the motto of the Indonesian state.

Closing
Based on the discussion of the article "Cultivating Diversity as a
Manifestation of the Philosophy of Unity Behind the Diversity of Community,
National and State Life" and the results of the literature review presented previously,
it can be concluded that in carrying out efforts to foster diversity as a manifestation of
the philosophy of unity amidst the diversity of life in society, nation and state. state,
concrete steps are needed. These steps include recognizing and respecting each
other's differences, practicing tolerance, developing empathy, integrating the values
of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika in education, applying Pancasila principles in everyday life,
and cultivating an attitude of tolerance in dealing with differences. By implementing
these efforts, society can maintain and strengthen diversity as a source of strength and
unity, in line with the Indonesian state motto, Bhinneka Tunggal Ika.
