29 The rate of reaction is concerned with decrease in concentration of reactants or increase in the
concentration of products per unit time .It can be expressed as instantaneous rate at a particular
instant of time and average rate over a large interval of time. Mathematical representation of rate of
reaction is given by rate law .Rate constant and order of reaction can be determined from rate law or
its integrated rate equation

30.
Amines are usually formed from nitro compounds, halides amides, imides etc. They exhibit hydrogen
bonding which influences their physical properties. In alkyl amines,a combination of electron
releasing, steric and hydrogen bonding influence the stability of thesubstituted ammonium cation in
protic polar solvents and thus effect the basic nature of amines In aromatic amines ,electron
releasing and withdrawing groups respectively increase and decrease their basic nature. Infiuence of
the number of hydrogen atoms and nature of products is responsible for identiication and distinction
between primary secondary and tertiary amines. Presence of amino group in aromatic amines
enhances their reactivity.
