QUESTION THREE

a. Construct five simple sentences, four complex sentences, and three compound
sentences, then demonstrate part of each sentences.

Sentences; A set of words that is complete its self, typically contain subject and predicate
conveying a statement, question, exclamation, or command, and consist of a main clause
and sometimes or more subordinate clauses. Also, the meaning of sentences is derived
from its components, including the subject, verb, and any objects or modifiers.

Components of Sentences; Also, the sentences have its components as shown below

Subject; The subject is the part of the sentences that indicates who or what the sentences
is about. It can be a noun (Example The dog) or a pronoun (Example he).

Verb; The verb expresses action or state of being (Example run, Is). And it is an essential
for conveying what the subject does or experiences.

Object/ Complement; Object receive the action of the verb (Example the ball in she
kicked the ball), While complements provides additional information about the subject or
object (Example happy in she is happy).

TYPES OF SENTENCES

Sentences have been dividing into three main categories are as follows;

a. Simple Sentences
b. Complex Sentences
c. Compound Sentences

SIMPLE SENTENCES

Are the sentences that consists of one independents clause and no dependent clause. Also,
they contain one independent clause and express a single idea (Example The cat sleep). They
are straightforward and convey clear meanings. The following are simple sentences are as
follows.
i. The sun shines brightly.

Subject: The sun

Verb: shines

Object/ Complement: brightly

ii. They play soccer every weekend.

Subject: They

Verb: play

Object/Complement: soccer every weekend

ii. He runs every morning.

Subject: He

Verb: runs

Object/Complement: every morning

iii. The cats sleep on the mat.

Subject: The

Verb: sleep

Object/Complement: on the mat

iv. She enjoys reading books.

Subject: She

Verb: enjoys

Object/Complement: reading books

COMPOUND SENTENCES

Are the sentences that has a least two independent clauses joined by a comma, semicolon or
conjunction. An independent clause, is a clause that has a subject and verb and forms a
complete thought an example of compound sentences, this house is too expensive and that is
too small. Also, they allow for expressing multiple related ideas with one sentence. The
following are the compound sentences are as follows.

1. I wanted to go for a walk, but it started to rain.

Independent Clause 1: I Wanted to go for a walk

Independent Clause 2: It started to rain

ii. She loves painting, and she enjoys sculpting.

Independent Clause 1: She loves painting

Independent Clause 2: She enjoys sculpting

iii. We can eat at home, or we can go out for dinner.

Independent Clause 1: We can eat at home

Independent Clause 2: We can out for dinner

COMPLEX SENTENCES

Are sentences with one independent clause and at least one dependent clause. Also, the
function of complex sentences it always works best when you need to provide more
information to explain or modify your sentences main point. And it adds more details but
cannot stand alone (Example Although it was raining, we went for a walk.). The dependent
clause provide context that enhance understanding. The following are the complex sentences
are as follows

1 Although it was raining, we decided, to go for a hike.


Independent Clause: We decided to go for a hike
Dependent Clause: Although it was raining

ii. Because she studied hard, she passed the exam with flying colors.

Independent Clause: She passed the exams with flying colors

Dependent Clause: Because she studied hard

iii. When the bell rings, the student will leave the classroom.

Independent Clause: The student will leave the classroom

Dependent Clause: When the bell rings
